Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Jim & Maud Bell / Dorset
« on: Monday 14 September 20 15:13 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Jim & Maud were my paternal grandparents. One of their favourite places was Bognor, where we believe this photo was taken.

My dad loves these photos which are gradually fading away. It would be wonderful to see them coloured/ restored. You can just about make out the colour of my nan’s outfit, pale blue.

Many thanks,

Lainy

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Fanny Louisa BARTON - What happened to her after 1901?
« on: Wednesday 06 March 19 12:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I have tried for several years to find out what happened to my GGA Fanny Louisa BARTON.  Below are details of what I have found out.

Fanny Louisa BARTON b 11 Apr 1883 Ventnor, Godshill, IOW dau. of Barton Ernest & Amelia BARTON
Bpt 28 May 1886, Freshwater, IOW

1891 aged 8 - 72 Mount Pleasant Road, South Stoneham, at her uncle and aunts, with her father.

1901 aged 18 - 10a West Over Road, Bournemouth - domestic servant in the LAMBERT household.

I have established that Fanny came to the mainland with her elder sister Amy and her father Barton Ernest and all worked within Bournemouth in different establishments in 1901.  Amy married Frank BUSSELL in Christchurch in 1902 and in 1911 resided in Poole.  In 1910 Barton Ernest died in Christchurch, Amy was the informant on the death cert.

If anyone can give me any further information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

World War One / Bedford Regiment - Which Battalion?
« on: Sunday 03 March 19 16:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

My husbands GGF James L Godfrey served in the Bedford Regiment 31074 during WW1, however,  his Service Record has no information regarding his battalion?

He was posted in France between July 1916 and November 1917 when he was discharged with Neurasthenia Traumative.

He played for the regiment football team and we have a photo with  'G (or C) Coy 1904-1905 written on the football, what does this refer to?

Any information relating to the above would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Lainy

London and Middlesex / Harrington & Sons Shop - Silver Street, Edmonton, Middlesex
« on: Sunday 09 February 14 20:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I am wondering if someone can help me find out about a shop(s).

Harrington & Sons was based in Silver Street, Edmonton in the early 1900's.  I also believe there was a second shop in the High Road, Tottenham.

I am interested to find out who owned the shop(s) and what the trade was.

Thanks

Dolly
