Northumberland Lookup Requests / 1871/61/51/41 look up please
« on: Thursday 26 June 08 18:19 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking to help a friend who is over here from Australia looking to trace his roots.

On the 1881 census I have Mary Jobson living in Acklington Village with her widowed daughter Jane Elliott and her children:

Robert J. age 18
John J. age 16
Edward age 12
James H. age 10 and Andrew age 7

(RG11 Folio 5121/41 Page 3).

I'm looking for the Jobsons and the Elliotts in the previous 4 census if possible.

Thanks

Northumberland / Finding death details

Can someone tell me how to track down a death when we don't know when it happened? The person was born in 1900 and we think died in Northumberland.

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Bedlington 1901census
« on: Monday 04 February 08 14:51 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for one family, possibly two:

The family of Thomas Fawcett Cook on the 1901 census and his wife Isabella ( nee Milburn I think) Living in Bedlington with sons George and Thomas Fawcett Junior (he'd be age 6) and daughter Mary

And I'm wondering if this is the same or a different family to Thomas Cook and his wife Isabella (nee Richardson) of Bedlington with daughter Jane and son John William (age 1)

Thanks

I'm looking for a Jane Haddon who was born in 1811 in Scotland. Haddon is her married name and it's possible she was married to a Ralph or a William Haddon. She had two sons - Ralph and William in Carham in Northumberland. I'm looking for her marriage. she is widowed on the 1871 census and living in Alnwick Nthld.

Thanks Tessy

Northumberland / Mary Embleton
« on: Sunday 06 May 07 17:28 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for the birth of Mary Embleton. My problem is i can't find her birth record.

On the 1851 (sorry I can't read the folio number)  she is married to Joseph Smith and is living at Ratcheugh farm, Longhoughton.

This has her birthplace as Wooler and her age as 42 so I'm presuming she was born around 1809.

On her marriage certificate in 1828 in the parish of Ilderton, the witnesses are George and William Embleton and Isabella English. At this point she is listed as living at Haugh Head, just outside of Wooler.

She names her second daughter Margaret and her second son George, so I'm presuming these are her parent's names, as the first son and daughter are named after Joseph's parents. (She names her third daughter Mary)

I've found a William Embleton (possibly her brother?) born to a George Embleton and Mary Davison in Wooler in 1810.

I've also found a marriage between a George Embleton and a Margaret Davidson in 1802 in Eglingham and this George dies in Wooler in 1833.

I think I'm clutching at straws.

Can anyone help?

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Warren
« on: Sunday 28 January 07 13:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I'm new to the Derbyshire board. I've just discovered that my grgr grandfather was born in Derbyshire. He is James Warren born 1835. He is on the 1861 census in East Chivington Northumberland RG9/3874 72 14 where it says he is born Derbyshire Meigfield. He is on the 1871 cesus at Horton Northumberland RG10/5134 42 14 and it says he is born Derbyshire Monegate. On the 1891 he is in Horton Northumberland RG12/4239 75 22 and it says he is born in Clay Cross Derbyshire.

I was hoping someone could find his birth as I've had no luck on the IGI and cannot find either Monegate or Meigfield on a map nor Clay Cross on the IGI. Which parish do these places come under?

Thanks

Tessy
