Essex / Saffron Walden Marriages 1869
« on: Monday 04 March 24 15:48 GMT (UK)  »
I've been trying to locate a marriage of William BASSETT and Martha TAYLOR which would have happened in the Saffron Walden District about 1869. No luck on Freebmd but I noticed that unusually there are no TAYLOR marriages listed for the first three quarters of 1869.
Have they not been listed in Freebmd?

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Died by the visitation of Vicar?
« on: Friday 15 December 23 16:31 GMT (UK)  »
Chasing some distant cousins to link in a faint DNA match (22cM) I came across the item below:

Hull Packet 28 Apr 1837
“An inquest was held at Patrington on Tuesday last, before Mr A. Iverson, coroner, on the body of Mr John FEWSON of Lockham, near Easington aged 69. The deceased had gone to Patrington to meet the Rev. Mr. POTCHET, of Grantham, but being too soon for the arrival of the mail from Hull, he went to the house of his daughter-in-law Mrs. FEWSON. He there complained of being rather unwell, and said he would lay down, which he did. Almost instantly after, Mrs. FEWSON hearing him make a singular noise, called at the foot of the stairs, but received no answer. She then went up stairs, and found him nearly lifeless. DR. Smih was in attendance within five minutes, but life was extinct. Mrs FEWSON the wife of the deceased and sister to the Rev. Mr. POTCHET, died suddenly some time ago, on the Rev. gentleman’s last visit to them. Verdict, died by the visitation of God.”

Checking the MIs -

MIs at Easington from EYFHS booklet
19   Sacred to the memory of Catherine, the wife of John FEWSON of Lockham and daughter of the late Revrd W POTCHETT vicar of Kilnsea who departed this life April 30th 1836 aged 62 years.
PR   1836 May 3   Catherine FEWSON, Easington 62.

There has been no mistake about the relationships. Catherine's father and brother were both called William and both were vicars.
The DNA linked person is not from John FEWSON but from his brother David and is 6th cousin to my father - if I have it right.

Technical Help / Sending messages through Gmail
« on: Thursday 07 December 23 15:01 GMT (UK)  »
For the last few days I seem to be receiving emails via Gmail OK but messages sent are being bounced. Of course I only find out they have not got through after a day or so. Have resorted to CCing myself to find out if the messages are not getting out and even reverting to BT to send messages.

Where is this "Users Online"? I can't find it.

Not that I want to send a message to a Moderator I just thought for a change I should RTFI - Read The  Flipping Instructions.
