World War Two / Any help appreciated

Hello
I have a query regarding someone who supposedly served in WW2 with The South Wales Borderers.
He married in 1940 in Herefordshire
This is what i was told by a family member.
The problem i have is that the only photograph of him in uniform clearly shows Durham on his shoulder badge.
How do i go about finding which regiment he was with, he is no longer living but did survive the war
