Cheshire / Coroners report 1949
« on: Wednesday 02 October 13 19:45 BST (UK)  »
Hi My Father was killed in an accident whilst installing a refrigeration plant in a dairy in Chapel Lane, Chester.
His name was Maxwell Richard Franklin and he died 28 June 1949. The inquest was 15 July 1949 City of Chester coroner David Hughes recorded a verdict of accidental death. I have contacted Cheshire Archives and I am awaiting a reply but I was wondering if there would be any newspaper reports and where would I find them also what newspapers were around at the time.
Warmest regards

Northumberland / Adoptions before 1926
« on: Saturday 01 December 12 13:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
What was the usual way in which adoptions took place prior to it being legalised in 1926 the reason I asked is because my Mum was orphaned in 1919 in Willington Quay and was adopted/or taken in by the Murphy family in Welfield but as far as I can see there was no previous connection between the families. I was wondering if there are any avenues I could research to find out how this took place.

Northumberland / Foster Lowery Galloway
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 17:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi my GF Elijah Galloway b.1885 d. 1916 was one of 12 children who lived in Willington Quay.
Some of his brothers had middle names of Foster Lowery. ::)
Whilst I know the Foster part comes from my GGM Elizabeth Jane Foster b. 1847 I am unable to link the name Lowery I don't think the name comes from the Galloway side of the family. Can anyone help ???

 8) I'm trying to find death date for Robert Cairns Galloway b.1909 Willington Quay, Tynemouth.
His Father Elijah died in 1916 and his Mother died in 1919.
His sisters Joyce and Cathrine were split up and went to stay with other families. I was told that Robert died young but I know he was alive in 1915.
Can anyone help? I've tried going through the BMD's with no success. ???

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Franklin, Frankling, Frankland My head hurts
« on: Thursday 26 June 08 01:10 BST (UK)  »
8)I was born Franklin my father was born Franklin my grandfather was born Arthur Ambrose Frankling b 28/5/1888 in Hackney his father was born as Samuel Arthur Frankland b1862 Leeds, Yorkshire. He is Franklin on Arthurís Marriage cert (now Iím really confused) Iíve sent for a birth cert to try and confirm that this is my G/Grandfather but if itís not then I have hit a brickwall. Also I canít seem to trace my G/G/Grandfather his wife was Margaret b1832 in Ireland (named as a Franklin) but lived in Leeds in 1871 census but I canít seem to find out her maiden name or my G/G/Gís name or where or when they were married. Has anyone any ideas as to how I can progress if the ordered birth cert is not my G/G/G?
Iíve tried trawling the BMD using Franklin, Frankling, Frankland with no success. :'(
