Kent / Help with wild card search 1921 census
« on: Saturday 15 January 22 11:00 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone and thank you for reading my post.
I am struggling to find my 2X great grandmother. I have tried every combination possible and spent a small fortune trying to locate her.
Her name is Caroline Nowers Matcham (maiden name Williams). Born Dover 1853. Died Dover 1935 so I know she was alive in 1921.
Her husband died in 1915 in Dover and I have accessed the record for the address they were living at in 1915. They have moved. I have also accessed the address that was given on her death certificate and she is not there.
I have tried searching on first name only as well as by surname but having no success. She is my only relative this far back in my tree who was still living on the 1921 census and I would like to find her.
Any suggestions on what combination to put in next would be very helpful.

Many thanks a very frustrated

« on: Thursday 07 January 21 20:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone

I’m trying to find the birth information for Margaret. What I know so far is she married John Hills 12 October 1773 at Bilsington Kent. You can view the marriage on findmypast parish records.

I am know trying to find a birth for Margaret the problem is her surname it can be spelt in many ways.
I have found a baptism for a Margaret Whorwell 2February 1745.
I would like to ask for other opinions if you think this could be my Margaret or if you can find a better match.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The Common Room / Family history research goals to complete in the next four weeks
« on: Monday 02 November 20 08:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone
As most of us in England face four weeks of lockdown I thought I would set myself some tasks to achieve during this time frame. Then I thought it might be a good idea for us all to share some time specific goals with each other. At the end of the month we can compare our progress. This will hopefully help each other through the coming weeks.

My goals are:
To highlight everyone in my main tree that was alive in 1921 and enter the location if I know it in preparation for the census release in 2022.

To scan all my fathers 35 MM on to the PC

Looking forward to reading your goals

Kent / Who did Thomas Banks marry?
« on: Thursday 17 September 20 18:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone
Thomas Banks my 8x great grandfather married in 1702. The record can de viewed on findmypast. I have attached a screen shot of the writing for anyone who does not have access to the record. The date was 01/10/1702 at St Paul Canterbury. Mary’s surname has been transcribe in various forms on ancestry and findmypast. What I need is a fresh opinion on her surname so I can take this line forward.
Many thanks in advance

Kent / Who were the parents of Mary Tiddenham
« on: Monday 07 September 20 19:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone
Can I get some help with finding the parents of Mary Tiddenham please.
What I know so far
Mary married Basil Hodges 1/10/1737 at Saint Alphege Kent
She gave birth to a daughter. Mary In July 1737 who was baptised in Elham.
She had another daughter Deborah in 1739 and a son Basil in 1744.
Mary died in 1799 and was buried on the 11 May. Her husband died in 1771, I do not have a year of birth for him as of yet.
Mary is my 6X great grandmother and I would like to take this line back further but have hit a brick wall. I thought with a slightly unusual surname it would be easier.
Any hints or suggestions gratefully deceived.

Europe / Could someone look this German record up for me please
« on: Friday 21 August 20 10:26 BST (UK)  »
Good morning everyone
I only have access to ancestry for the Uk. Please could someone with full world access look up the following person for me
Country Germany
Person
Johann Christian Eÿ
Link to record.
https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&dbid=61243&h=600534600&tid=361365&pid=7022866159&queryId=71a49bc78a584c396866ee74c22f4846&usePUB=true&_phsrc=jpw322&_phstart=successSource
I believe he came to the Uk and may have changed his name to John Christian Ey. If so he is my 4 x great grandfather. His birth should be around 1755 according to UK sources.

Any help gratefully appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
