London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Unusual surname
« on: Tuesday 31 January 17 01:06 GMT (UK)  »
My friend is searching for the parents of Euphemia Greenhousy, born 1795-1800, possibly in London. She's looked everywhere, and despite the name being quite unusual, can find no trace of the parents. She married Ernest Henry Miller, and one son William Charles, came out to Australia.
I do hope someone can help,
Thank you.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Crazy Mixed up 1911 census!
« on: Wednesday 05 June 13 03:34 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone please explain to me this census please?
Henry and Emma Cadman living Windmill? Sq Masboro Rotherham, married 34 yrs, 15 children, 14 still living. He has 15 "sons and daughters" listed with him (one at least must be a grandchild) most of them are definitely his and Emmas children according to my tree, but even the married daughters are listed as "Cadmans" though they are shown as having been married many years, with children! ???
Then at the bottom of the page I see they only have four rooms, with a total of five people living in them.   ::)
Has anyone any idea of what was going on in Henry Cadmans brain please, because I am totally confused?

I have just returned from the UK after finding a missing first cousin! It was a wonderful first meeting but she knows very little about her mothers side of the family, so I have been doing some searching. I have her grandmothers name, Eliza Ellen Millington,b1895 Rotherham, and the g. grandparents names, Joseph Millington and Francis/Frances (Unknown)b.1859 and 1861 respectively, again in Rotherham.
There is a 1901 census with them boarding with a Pickering family, and with four daughters, then a 1911 census in Rotherham where the number of years married is not stated. Sadly it shows of the 8 children born to them, only two are living, Eliza Ellen and a Louisa.
I can't find the vital 1891 census which would possibly give me more of the childrens names, and enable me to also find their deaths.
I'd be grateful for any help with this family,
Thank you

I have two siblings, Dorothie Mary Darley b.1881 Thorne Yorkshire, and Ciceley Sarah Darley b. 1883 Thorne, and have found their birth registrations but no census returns anywhere!
They came from a wealthy brewing family and although I have looked at different sites concerning this family, have been unable to tie these two girls in with them - even though I know by Ciceley marrying Henry (Harry) Whitworth, two large brewing families came together.
This is extremely frustrating as I have a lot of my daughter-in-laws paperwork here, but so much is missing.
I would be grateful for any help.

I have very little to go on here but would just like some suggestions on how to find this particular person.  ???
She was a governess named Miss Turner, at Kilnwick Percy Hall, nr Pocklington, East Yorkshire probably from 1914 on. We believe she had a son named John some time after this who took her maiden name.
Any suggestions very welcome!!!

Essex / Elusive marriage
« on: Wednesday 10 April 13 19:53 BST (UK)  »
I am helping a friend with his family tree and have an Albert Douglas Moore, born 1918 in West Ham - the record shows his mothers maiden name as Golding, but I can't find a marriage between a Moore and Golding any where on Free BMD. (That fits the birth of the son Albert) Obviously I don't have Alberts father's christian name, and realise my friend will have to find, and send for his fathers birth certificate, but wondered if in the meantime anyone could find any record at all of a marriage between a Moore and Golding around this time frame.
Thank you

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / George FURZER brick wall.
« on: Friday 04 January 13 00:24 GMT (UK)  »
I have found one reference to my friends George Furzer,(b.c1835 civil parish Crewkerne Somerset) on the 1841 census, with his mother Susan, and Grandfather James Staple. However George then seems to vanish, yet I know for a fact he had a son Edward George, b. 1855 Crewkerne Somerset. I found a 1871 census with a George Furzer (Furger?) b. Chenswick? Somerset, occ. City Police Constable which I think may be him, but cannot read the rest of the image. Apart from that - nothing :(
I would appreciate anything about him - birth, marriage etc.
Thank you,
Pauline

London and Middlesex / Please help with a birth record!!
« on: Saturday 22 December 12 02:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I hope you don't mind but I already posted this on the Essex site, and unfortunately wasn't successful, but as this birth could also be classed as a London one, hopefully you wont mind ::)

I'm looking for a James Cleaver, b. 1876 Canning Town, son of William J Cleaver and Emily Hindes. (Married 1879) However, a rootschatter found what could be a previous marriage for Emily, to a Charles Miles in 1868 (Islington) So I also looked for a James Miles, again with no success. It seems a bit strange that Emily married William using her maiden name, but who knows why?
I really hope someone can find him as he is an ancestor of a good friend of mine,
Thank you very much
Pauline
