Family History Beginners Board / Benjamin Wood
« on: Saturday 02 October 21 17:16 BST (UK)  »
Benjamin Wood 1811? - 1867. Lived in Lee Croft Rd, Sheffield in 1841 census. Trade was a Cooper and Iím assuming his father would also be a cooper.  Cannot find who is father is as itís such a common name. Was thinking that if I found another Wood that was a Cooper, it may be his father. However, Sheffield trade directory 1829 registers Benjamin but no others with surname Wood.
Can anyone suggest another way of trying to find his parents? Thanks

My second great grandfather went from being a hawker to travelling showman with a stall and roundabout in 1901 census. i Have an amazing photo of the fairground stall!  He came from Warrington, Lancashire. Does anyone know where i may find out more information on travelling fairs in Lancashire around this time? I've tried Sheffield University fair website and Lancashire family history site.
Many thanks.

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / HUNDLEBY/SPILSBY workhouse, Lincolnshire
« on: Thursday 13 February 20 21:03 GMT (UK)  »
I am wondering if I would be able to obtain 1841 records for all residents at the Hundlesby/spilsby workhouse?
I have found a relative Thomas Crowson aged 8 but trying to trace his mother Martha Crowson.
I have read the Spilsby minutes books and found her name crop up with bastardy cases but cannot find her whereabouts in  1841.
Any help appreciated.

I'm trying to find out if the Hundleby workhouse in Spilsby, Lincolnshire would have kept admission and leaving records? I have accessed the workhouse minutes but its admissions and when they left that I'm trying to find.
I'm presuming these records had to be kept. Only started researching my family but I'm fascinated by the social history.
