Longford / Thomas Heaney BN 1846 Glasgow, served 1867-72 Constable
« on: Monday 30 August 21 15:07 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace relatives of the above, Father Gfather. The constable has served Wicklow through Supt Hillson.
Links appear by father as Longford Abeylara.

Assistance greatly appreciated.

Looking for the father of the constable, also called Thomas Heaney, noted in Glasgow 1846.

Hi all

This is my GGfather Thomas Bn 1846 Glasgow (Cathedral).

I would be interested in any date/info/enhancement around this topic, particularly the date of this photo (Roughly, of course) and which Constabulary if poss.

His father took him to Ireland where he became a constable from 1867-72.

He then returned to England where he joined the Staffordshire police in 1872.  I have the irish and UK record for the police. The common name and variants have not helped me (who knows he may be related to Seamus).

Any input would be welcome.

Ireland / Thomas Heaney - Newbie, help please
« on: Saturday 29 February 20 12:33 GMT (UK)  »
I have been doing this, well, it feels like an eternity.  My Brick wall is at last crumbling.

I am searching Thomas Heaney father born "Ireland", great help I know, not only heaney, but it's variants as well.
At last due to some dodgy ifo, the son that I know more about is also Thomas Heaney, bn 1846 Glasgow (St Andrews Cathedral).

So at some time the father moved Ireland to Scotland, possibly via somewhere else... Then the son Moved to Ireland, where he served in the Police 1867-72.

I am really interested in the immigration/emigration, though this may not be classed as that, as we were all one country? I cannot find any records, and of course Ireland having limited records makes it worse.

Any experts in Ireland Genealogy, that may have any suggestions (Other than jump off a cliff-LOL)
