Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Causes of death
« on: Thursday 10 April 25 13:12 BST (UK)  »
I've attached 2 clips re the causes of death of my relatives. The first clip is fairly legible but I still can't make it out clearly enough. It reads Fracture of ? neck 7 days and broncho pneumonia (I think).
The Second clip I think I can make out Cardiac failure ? days but after that I'm stuck.
I'd be grateful (as always) for any help.
Many thanks.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Cause of death in 1864
« on: Monday 23 December 24 14:33 GMT (UK)  »
Yet another document I'm stumped by. I've tried everything but I just can't make out this cause of death from 1864.
I've come across thousands of causes of death researching the family tree but nothing comes to mind when looking at this one.
It looks like it's one word and possibly lasted 3 or 5 weeks.
Hoping, as always, someone out there comes up with the light-bulb moment!
Many thanks/

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Location in Lockerbie, Dumfries & Galloway
« on: Wednesday 20 November 24 14:39 GMT (UK)  »
I think this one may be for someone with a knowledge of the area because it doesn't look readable to me. I'm trying to decipher the name of the cottage in Lockerbie but it seems to be blurred or smudged  and I can't improve the quality I'm afraid.
The year of the death is 1947 if that helps.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Cause of death 1849
« on: Tuesday 29 October 24 14:49 GMT (UK)  »
Attached is the cause of death in 1849 of a relative of mine. The writing seems perfectly legible but I just can't make out the actual cause of death. I've tried various possibilities but I'm not coming up with anything.
Anyone care to embarrass me with the solution?!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Cause of Death

The attached clip from a death register really annoys me because I can read every single word but one and no matter how many times I read it I can't make it out.
The word I'm stuck at is the word just before 'tubercular spinal meningitis'.
Suggestions please!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Cause of Death 1880
« on: Saturday 07 September 24 10:52 BST (UK)  »
Apologies for the state of the attached file - I tried to clean it as best as I could but it's still partly illegible to me.
The clip is from the death register of my 3x great-uncle John Yuill who died, I believe on 05/07/1880.
All I can decipher from the cause of death is, I think, 'some years' and '6 months' but as for the rest...
I'm not expecting much from this document but any help will be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland
« on: Thursday 15 August 24 09:11 BST (UK)  »
The attached clip contains the address of a relative who lived in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire in 1868.
I cannot make out the place name before Old Monkland and a search through the internet revealed nothing similar to me.
My initial thought was that it started with 'St' but I'm a bit dubious.
Thanks in advance to any to give it a try!
