Carmarthenshire Lookup Requests / Thomas M. JONES OR JARUS
« on: Saturday 13 November 21 05:54 GMT (UK)  »
I have a name of direct ancestor  ..Margaret JONES, born 1817 Llanelli district, Carmarthenshire. Married John WIlkins(on) in Trevethin, Monmouthshire in 1834.  In 1891 England census, she was 75 yrs. and died at that address in 1895 aged 70yrs. She was staying in Wimbledon with a daughter, and her younger cousin Thomas M. Jones (I have presumed it was Jones but name now looks more like JAROS.) Haven't been able to find more re her family or his... he was an Auctioneer, Estate Agent etc. and a bit younger than cousin Margaret...he was 56 in 1891 census so born Llangandock (Llangadog), Carmenthenshire. Anybody help?

Armed Forces / Information about National Service served in Malaya
« on: Monday 23 November 20 22:33 GMT (UK)  »
My husband John Murdo MacLEOD born 29 July, 1926, Inverness did his National Service after the Second World War - 1946-8 ? - I believe he was in the Artillery. He was "on the big guns" at Dover, and he also sailed to Malaya (he said he was passing through the Bay of Biscay on his 21st birthday! in 1947) to fight "suppressing insurgents in the jungles of Malaya). I have a photo of his troop at Folkestone, but have no more information. I would like to know more of both his actual regiment and the areas of battle in Malaya, etc.
