Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / WW2 Service Record Help
« on: Saturday 28 January 23 23:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have been going through my grandfathers service records and I have come across a section I am unable to read fully.

I read it as -

Mastered as clerk (3) _?_ No 8 _?_  _?_ Attd to _?_  _?_  _?_  _?_  _?_ Posted

Ceased to be mastered as tradesmen clerk _?_  _?_ of 8 SM _?_ ceased to _?_ Attd _?_  _?_ transferred to RASC _?_

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks Mark

I finally received my grandfathers military papers from ww2 and on one of the pages it says he was at Naval training for 3 years which no one ever knew.

I can't read the rest of it though. I think it says Naval training something something from 1929 - 1932.

Any help would be much appreciated.

World War Two / RASC North Africa Question
« on: Friday 25 March 22 11:36 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to research my grandfathers military details. I know he was in the RASC in Tunisia in 1943, he then went on to Italy. In 1944-5 he was in Norway. My question is he was in the RASC but he had a cap badge and blazer badges for the Northamptonshire regiment and he spoke about the 8th army, I've tried to research but get more confused, would the RASC been part of the Northamptonshire regiment or would he of transferred to them. All the documents I have put him in the RASC but never mention the Northamptonshire Regiment. I've added two pictures which I have. Any help much appreciated.

The Common Room / Census with no address and question
« on: Thursday 06 January 22 12:11 GMT (UK)  »
I have a 1921 census with my grandfather on aged 7 but nowhere does it list the address just comes under institution, being as he was in Romford is it likely to be the Romford workhouse.

Also some people in the same institution are listed as patients and others are listed as inmates, does anyone know why that would be.

Thank you all for any help

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Medical report
« on: Wednesday 15 September 21 16:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have two sections from a children's home medical report. The first section I can't really understand any of it.

The second part I think says Has worked in laundry since - not equal for 51hrs work. It is the last part I'm not sure if I'm reading it right.

Also any help with the first section would be much appreciated.

Many thanks Mark

I have just received a copy of a relatives asylum records but can only make out a few words. From what I know she had something wrong from birth and was in a children's home until she was put in the asylum at about 23.

There are two paragraphs. Any help with either would be much appreciated.

Thanks Mark

« on: Wednesday 28 July 21 20:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, I have a death certificate from 1897 which has the place of death as the Leach, Mexborough. Does anyone know what this place was as I have searched online but all I can find is a Leach Lane but no building.

Many thanks for any help.
