Renfrewshire / McAulays of Paisley
« on: Wednesday 10 February 21 21:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hello - I am looking for any information on a Rachel McAuley - married to an Alexander Moore. Rachel settled in the Paisley area, but was born around 1844 in Northern Ireland. Her parents were William McAulay and Mary Davison/Davidson and I can only assume that they remained in NI, as I am unable to find a death record for either parent.

What gets really curious, is that I have a marriage record for a James McAulay to an Elizabeth Frazer/Fraser in Paisley, with the same parents as those listed for Rachel. Are they siblings???

I am trying to connect the dots between the two - between Rachel and James, as well as to find out whether there were any other siblings (if they indeed are). Would appreciate any help, but do not need records on Rachel Unless it has to do with her life in NI). Thanx!

Antrim / McAulay/McAuleys of Randalstown, Antrim help needed
« on: Wednesday 10 February 21 20:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hello - I'm looking for anyone who has information on the marriage of a Dinah McAuley (b. abt. 1802ish) from Randalstown to a David Ross (b. abt. 1798). they married in 1820 in Antrim (unsure of city). Dinah's father was George McAulay/McAuley. David was originally from Edinburgh, but lived in Antrim for a while, where he apparently met, and married Dinah. After having a few children over there, they moved to Edinburgh. Desperate to get some help on her family. Would appreciate any help I can get! Thanks in advance.

Antrim / McAulays of Antrim
« on: Thursday 17 September 20 23:48 BST (UK)  »
I mistakenly posted this on the Armagh board (sorry for the confusion). I am looking for any information on the McAulays of Belfast/Antrim. More specifically, an Elizabeth (b. 1837) or Rebecca (b.1835) to parents Thomas McAulay and Margaret Brown. Any hints would be most appreciated - thanks!

Armagh / Looking for ancestors/information on William Brown and Rebecca Armour
« on: Thursday 17 September 20 01:35 BST (UK)  »
A real puzzle, with no information to go on. William and Rebecca are supposedly from Northern Ireland - county unknown. Both were probably born in the late 1700s. They had a daughter, Margaret Brown who was b. around 1819, in Northern Ireland. Sorry for the lack of details, but I'm sadly lacking any additional information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lanarkshire / Looking for ancestors of McAulays from Calton Glasgow area
« on: Tuesday 15 September 20 20:30 BST (UK)  »
Hello - I am looking for anyone who is tied to a Thomas & Margaret McAulay (nee Brown) of Glasgow - Calton or Lanark. I would love to be able to learn more specific information on either of them prior to their coming to Scotland (it seems that both came from Northern Ireland, but I have no record to prove this - only the fact that they indicate their place of birth as Ireland on the 1861 census). I know of a different Thomas & Margaret in the area, but their children are different. My Thomas & Margaret's children are as follows: Elizabeth, Rebecca, William, & Margaret. Of these, I can only confirm the birth date of Elizabeth McAulay, who later married Joseph Murphy (b. 1837, probably in Armagh; d. 1905 in Dennistoun). As of the 1861 census, they are living in Glasgow, Calton.

I have also located a record for the Christening of a Margaret McAulay on April 6, 1855 at the Great Hamilton Street Reformed Church, to parents Thomas and Margaret McAulay, but I'm not sure this is the correct Margaret, as her age is off by 6 years from the census, and, it is in a Protestant church, when previous marriages were in the Catholic church. Any help would be appreciated!

Lanarkshire / Murphy family - Lanarkshire area - c.1870
« on: Tuesday 25 August 20 01:36 BST (UK)  »
hello to all - I am researching family that lived in Lanarkshire back in the mid to late 1800s. Of interest is a Theodore Block/ch, who married a Catherine Murphy (nee McAuley). Catherine's father, Joseph Murphy lived with his mother, Hanna Murphy (nee McConville) at 53 Great Hamilton Street in Carlton c.1851. Joseph married Elizabeth McAuley and moved to  161 Cumberland Street in Govan. Finally, they end up moving to No. 2 Risk Street, where they had my GGM, Catherine Murphy (who later marries Theodore Block). They loved all over Lanarkshire, but lived on Pine Street and Rose Street.

I am look for ANY information on my family - pictures of the area as it was, pics of family or friends. If anyone has any stories about these families, I would GREATLY appreciate it! After four years of hitting brick walls, would be nice to have some sort of breakthrough, no matter how small it is. Hoping some of you can help. Thanx in advance.
