Scotland / Marjorie Dunbar married to Lukas de Stirvelyng of Rathoran
« on: Sunday 21 August 22 15:41 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to identify the wife of Lukas de Stirvelyng of Rathoran, father of Sir William of Striveline
of Ratherne and Keir.

In my research I find multiple reference to Marjorie Dunbar born between (1385 and 1410) of which all say died before 4/23/1429. Unfortunately I don't find any references that identify a document source other than a statement of fact with no backup in web pages. (could there be two women confused connected to the same father and death date?

Most identify her with the same father "Sir George, 11/12 Laird of Annandale.

Spouse are listed
Alexander 2nd Earl of Crawford
Lukas de Stirvelyng of Rathoran
Sir John Swinton

Any insight would be most appreciated!

If someone could translate this it would be most appreciated. It is from The Stirlings of Keir and Their Family Papers.

I am still learning this site and don't yet know how to directly thank someone once they respond so thanks in advance!

The following text is from "The Stirlings of Keir and their Family Papers". I have been fumbling my way through it but it would really help if someone could translate for me. I would be most appreciative. The words in () are my inserts. [ my tracking #]

ON 23rd May 1621, ' Dominus (Sir) Joannes (John) Stirling de (of) Garden miles, (knight) [SBA903] patruus (gender masculine) Georgii (George) Stirling filii legitimi natu (legitimate children) maximi Domini (greatest lord) Jacobi Stirling feoditarii (feudal lord)' de (of) Keir, ' was retoured (returned) ' propinquior agnatus, (close male relative) id est consanguincus (close ancestor) ex parte patris ipsi Georgio Stirling.#1 In the Commissary Court of Dunblane, on 4th August 1629, George Stirling nominated John Earl of Perth, John Lord Erskine, Archibald Lord Napier [SBA2165], Sir Archibald Stirling of Keir, Sir David Home of Wedderburn, Sir Ludovick Houstoun of that Ilk, John Haldane of Gleneagles, Sir John Stirling of Garden, and William Stirling of Ardoch, his curators, tam ad lites quam ad negotia, during his minority.

US Lookup Requests / John Griffin born 1878 in Manhattan NY (?)
« on: Wednesday 04 November 20 15:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I’m coming back to the well to see if the Rock Stars here can locate a birth record for John Griffin born to Patrick and Nora (Kane) Griffin. In New York 9/1878 according to the US 1900 Census.

I have located birth records for all the other siblings- Patrick William jr, Catherine Agnes, William, Thomas, Nora, Joseph and Lizzie which show all were born in Manhattan.

Patrick Griffin “the father” was a butcher in lower Manhattan most likely living at 19 Rector Street at the time of John Griffins birth (1878) according to the NYC directory. From 1872 – 1900 there is only 1 Patrick Griffin “butcher” in lower Manhattan listed for each year in the NY City Directories. They are all the same Patrick Griffin that is father of the subject “John Griffin”

Some of the birth records for the other children have errors in the mothers name.
For example- his brother Patrick William Griffin jr birth record identifies the mother as Honarah (Hand) Griffin but should actually be Nora Kane Griffin.

Thanks so much in advance for any help in finding a birth record for Patrick.

US Lookup Requests / Lookup request Agnes Elizabeth (Myers-Neville) Mahlmeister
« on: Thursday 24 September 20 00:24 BST (UK)  »
I have hit a brick wall trying to search for my Grandmothers parents. She was apparently born "Agnes Elizabeth Meyers" in April 1902. She passed away in 1980 in Carmel (Bruster) NY. Married Charles Mahlmeister. She was raised by John and Katherine Neville in the Bronx NY City as evidenced by the 1910 US Census and the 1915 NY Census. There are reports she was born in Philadelphia however the Census's all say she was born in NY. I have thus far been unable to locate any evidence of NY or Philadelphia birth. Our family never knew she was adopted until she passed away. I have joined Ancestry.com but still found no leads.

Any help locating her parents would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

United States of America / Patrick & Mary Kelley of Port Chester NY/Norwalk Conn
« on: Saturday 29 August 20 14:43 BST (UK)  »
This is my 1st entry so I hope I do this correctly.
My great great grandfather Patrick Kelley born 1844 (US Census 1880) married Mary (     ) Kelley around 1868 and living in Port Chester NY. Relocated to Norwalk Conn 1886-1888 where his last two children were born. He died prior to the 1900 census.
Children are James (b-1869), Anna Elizabeth b-(1871), Ellen (b-1872) Catharine (b-1875), Matilde (b-1878), Thomas (b-1880), Julia (1882) (All born in NY), Elizabeth (b-1884), John (1886) (the last two born in Conn).

I found reference to Mary (Mahar) Kelley, spouse- "Patrick Kelley" but it looks like that may be in Australia.

Anna Kelley (my Great Grandmother) married Albert Reed Sterling 1898.

John Kelley died on Christmas Day 1905'ish when he fell through the ice and drown. (Connecticut)

Any help would be so appreciated. I can't think where else to look   :-[
