Hi,
I’m trying to figure out which ancestors are in the attached photo (which is on a postcard marked Yeoman Studios, Royal Arcade Melbourne).
Any help appreciated!

Following on from my post a couple of days ago regarding an ancestor's occupation (thanks for everyone's help with that!) I've got the wedding certificate for the same ancestors- William Hodder and Sarah Curtiss. It's really hard to make out much at all, they were married in Reigate in 1842; I can't quite read the details of their parents, ages or witnesses... Would love some help!
thanks again  :)

Hi, I've managed to get hold of my 3 x g-grandfather's baptism record from Carlisle in 1833- John Snee (thanks to someone at the Cumberland archives). Here he is listed as John Slee and I can see his parents are Ann and William- however I can't read much else! Any help deciphering this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Cumberland / Irish Immigrants residing in Whitehaven in the 1840's
« on: Thursday 08 April 21 05:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I've hit a brick wall tracing my 3x great-ggrandmother, who I believe was an Irish immigrant who moved across to England as a child. Her name was Rosanna Smith, however she was also appears in some documents as Rosey/Roseanna/Rosanneah etc.
She was born approx. 1835 and appears in the 1841 Census as loving in Scott's Court, St Bees, Whitehaven with her parents Michael and Mary and siblings. I have traced her beyond that to her wedding and early death (of TB aged 29) however due to the common surname of Smith I can't find any dates around when the family arrived in the UK.
Any direction regarding research in this area (St Bees/Whitehaven) in particular history regarding Irish immigrants would be much appreciated!
thanks

Ireland / Help with tracing Irish ancestors with common names
« on: Saturday 13 February 21 22:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm currently stuck on seaching for the Irish history of my ancestors, who may or may not have gone to the UK from Northern Ireland in the early 1800's. What I know is:

Michael Smith born 1811 in Ireland
Mary Collins born 1809 in Ireland

Parents of my 3rd Great Grandmother Rosanna/Rosey/Rose Ann Smith (born 1834 died 1863)

Sources so far are the 1841 and 1851 UK census- they first appear in Cumberland (1841) then in Gateshead (1851)

I've search many records in Ancestry and Find My Past but with the common names of Smith and Collins and not finding much at all!

Would appreciate any assistance/direction in what Irish records to look at..

thanks in advance!

Hi, I have come across this old postcard in my family records, and would love more details on the possible location (a fete in Gateshead, Durham?).
I'm also curious whether the photo could be a family photo- this was sent by my Great, Great Aunt Violet- I think to her sister. But I'm not sure!

Appreciate any views on the above - and also if someone can decipher the name and address.

thanks!

Durham / Brickwall- John Snee b. 1832/1833 from Gateshead
« on: Saturday 30 January 21 06:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I'm having trouble tracing the ancestry of John Snee, who was born around 1832/1833 in Carlisle- he resided in Gateshead from an early age, and then married Rosanna Smith (who died at a young age). They had a number of children prior to her death; John remarried not long after she passed away and had more children with his second wife, Bridget Hunt. I think that John's parents are John and Bridget Snee from Ireland (according to Census records from 1851) however another path links to a Michael Snee from Ireland possibly being his Father. I haven't been able to trace John's birth records at all, or trace his parentage/Irish roots.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
