« on: Monday 08 October 12 16:43 BST (UK)  »
I am having a bad day regarding re-search, and would appreciate some help please. :)

Grace is living with her parents in 1861, Benjamin Toman Thomas born in St Just 1812 and wife Ann 1816 born Madron....after his death Ann uses the name Nanny on the census.

The Common Room / What Role would a board of Guardians take in these circumstances?
« on: Saturday 08 September 12 20:42 BST (UK)  »

Background of circumstances:
A man committed Bigamy and was sent to prison in the Second  Division for three months ..............he  was sent to a Mental Asylum, so I assume second division means this.

He stayed longer than three months because he died there six months later.
The children's real mother had died two years previous, he had re-married within three months but his wife left him after three months, a year later he committed bigamy

The Board of Guardians advertised for a childrens caretaker and general assistant through the Labour Exchange and appointed someone to look after the children.

So would this mean she moved into the childrens home to look after them,  would this  be until the eldest child reached 21....this was in 1921.

I know my grandfather was  Guardian to the eldest boys at some time,  possibly when they were sixteen and they were in a childrens home some forty miles away from where he lived.

The childrens ages ranged from 21 down to three years old.

Has anyone any idea why they were not taken into the Workhouse and how long this lady would have been employed to look after them?

I use Orange, on a Motorola phone, so should I change provider (new Sim) or do I get a new phone?

If so what make, and what provider has the strongest single please.

Technical Help / Mobile phone problem: Roaming calls
« on: Thursday 26 April 12 15:22 BST (UK)  »
I use a Motorola mobile with Orange pay as you go for emergency use only.....so don't really understand anything of it's other functions.

Evertime the phone rings I can't take the call for some reason.

Being a Motorola the front of the case lights us with messages, but now it says: ROAMING Answer Call ?
Then underneath OK and Cancel

I believe that this system might be used when abroad but I am in the UK and so is everyone else that rang me yesterday (I was in hospital)
I have listed ten missed calls, but only have the option to Return them etc

Over the last few weeks I keep getting advertising messages but delete them with out opening them...notified by a very loud bell ringing.

Do you think these are connected and how do I get rid of it.

Technical Help / Did you realise? Outlook Express and Virgin Web Mail
« on: Saturday 10 March 12 00:30 GMT (UK)  »
Maybe I am the only one who didn't know this, but just in case I am not.

I use Outlook Express, and Virgin is my ISP.

I clear all emails on a daily basis or file the ones I need to keep in a Folder when using my Outlook Express email account.

What i did not realise was that I also needed to delete all the duplicate emails on my Virgin Web Mail account too.
I thought when I deleted from Outlook Express that that was it, but the Web Mail account has a limit and once in over load Outlook Express starts to go wrong..

Well this is what I was told to-day when my Outlook Express once again did not work. When I went to Virgin Web Mail, I had 2500 or more emails there waiting to be deleted.

The Common Room / What is the protocol for adding this to a Public Tree
« on: Sunday 04 March 12 23:47 GMT (UK)  »
Before I give the details, I will add this is my sister, so I am more than touchy about it.....hurt and furious is more like it >:(

Would you feel right about adding a deceased person to your Tree that was born in 1947 and died in 2002, you are aware that they were married with children.

Is it acceptable in Family Research?

It has been removed now.

I did add this to another Thread, but just in case it is not answered have put it here.
