« on: Friday 16 February 24 01:04 GMT (UK)  »
I have had the Rootschat Icon on my desktop computer for years and years.
For some reason I have lost it and I have the Edge Icon ?? in it's place.
I have no idea how this came about - probably hit the wrong button somewhere.
Could some kind person please help me to get it back.

The Common Room / Ancestry Trees
« on: Wednesday 04 January 23 02:40 GMT (UK)  »
I have a question regarding photos - records - posted on Ancestry Trees , when they are saved by other people to their trees.
Where it shows the people who have saved them - sometimes there are a number of people.
However they may say saved by 10 of 20 people and only list a small number how would I be able to see all the people who have saved it.
Hope I have made this as clear as I possible can, and some kind person can help me.

Australia / Ship John Fielden
« on: Tuesday 05 July 22 04:49 BST (UK)  »
Ancestry have records for Queensland Australia passenger list 1848 - 1912
On this list they have the ship John Fielden arriving 19 June 1854.  I believe this to be incorrect.

Also on Ancestry they have the records for NSW Australia passenger list 1826-1896
On this list the John Fielden arrived 11 June 1853.  After a lot of research I find that 1853 is the likely arrival.
Is there any way to contact the Queensland Government website to ask them to confirm they have the correct date of 1854??.

Would appreciate it if someone could please find it for me. I have tried different spellings. :)

Australia / Victorian Registry BDM
« on: Saturday 25 May 19 01:28 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying all week to download a marriage record from the BDM - website.

If and when I'm able to get to the last page where I select Uncertified record or download record.

The widget just keeps going round and round and then at the top of the page -  in red it's says there is a problem and to come back later.

Well I have been coming back later all week and it has not been fixed >:(

Has anyone else had problems with the website.?  I never had problems with the old website.

Technical Help / Microsoft Wireless Mouse 700 v2.0
« on: Thursday 20 December 18 23:24 GMT (UK)  »
Please could some kind person help me.
The above mouse has become frozen.  I'm able to sign on - by using the up and down keys, but that's all I can do.
I have checked everything I can think of to fix it, like changing the batteries.
The mouse seems to be still alive because the light is on, but it won't move.
Would appreciate help to get it moving.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / DNA - Match
« on: Friday 19 October 18 05:05 BST (UK)  »
I have just received my DNA results. Still trying to work it all out.
What I would like some help with is this.....
I have a match possibly 3rd cousin....
101 centimorgans over 6 DNA segments.
Would this mean that we are connected through gtgtgrandparents.?
I did make contact with this person and was given a possible surname - which seems to possibly fit a person of interest.
As I don't have a Ancestry Tree I was not able to invite her to view it.  She has a Private one but I did not get an invite (probably my fault). I did give the information that I had concerning this person.
However I have searched the name I was given and I see others have Public Trees with this person on.
The reason I'm really interested in this is because it could help me with an elusive ancestor.
It could possibly mean he was illegitimate. Then again I maybe completely on the wrong track.

The Common Room / Ancestry Public Trees
« on: Monday 14 May 18 05:09 BST (UK)  »
A few weeks ago after my subscription to Ancestry expired.  I decided to try searching for an Ancestor on the beta.familysearch.org website.

I was amazed to find a photo of my grandmother - I know this photo was posted sometime ago on a Public Tree on Ancestry, and was saved to other Ancestry Trees.
Searching further I found quite a few names that I am familiar with regarding my own family.  I know some people have submitted information to the family search website.
However some people have just taken the information from Ancestry Public Trees - and contributed to family search - without checking it is correct.

The gentleman who added my grandmother's photo - I have no idea who is  or if he is even connected to her family.

There is a group working on contributing records for South Australia.

Just wondered if anyone else has come across this website.  It puts me in mind of the old Mundia.com website.

Edit: I don't have an Ancestry Public Tree.

I have no idea what has happened to this photo.  It seems to have black ink? across the faces of this family. The rest of the photo is in quite good order - possibly taken 1934-35.
The little boy in it seems to have missed it by chance.

If it's possible I would appreciate it if this black ink ? could be removed -please.

Many thanks....
