Ayrshire / Mary Ritchie
« on: Sunday 16 September 12 10:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm looking for any details on a Mary Ritchie who married Thomas Staley (b England) on 13th July 1787 at Leadhills Lanarkshire. Mary died 13th March 1831 at Muirkirk. Her husband Thomas is found on 1841/1851 census living in Muirkirk with two of his daughters. Thomas and Mary lived in Muirkirk all their married life and had five children born there, Margaret 1788, Anne 1791, Fortune 1792, Jonathon 1794 and Thomas 1796. I have all the Staley side of the family but nothing whatsoever about Mary Ritchie. I don't have a marriage cert for Thomas and Mary as the date is taken from a family bible in Australia and i don't know how accurate the info is as this could have been written at a later date. I also don't have a birth for Mary or a burial record. She is believed to have died 13th March 1831 in Muirkirk and Thomas died in 1851 in Muirkirk.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stirlingshire / Farmer, Lauriesto, Falkirk 1831
« on: Sunday 03 February 08 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for help on this one.
I have an Ann Kennedy married Robert Gordon in Edinburgh 1831.
On that cert it states that she is daughter of John Kennedy, farmer, Lauriston, Falkirk.
Ann appears as Ann Gordon on the 1851 census visiting brother Martin Kennedy in Polmont.
I am trying to find the parents of these two. Is there something that might tell me who farmed in Lauriston in 1831.
There are so many John Kennedys in the area at that time and i don't know if he would be still living in 1841.
Ann emigrated to Canada and i think Martin also went as i can't find him on any more censuses.
Martin married a Susan Temple. Both Ann and Martin stated that they were born in Lanarkshire Glasgow on the 1851 census.
Any help would be much appreciated as this has been a long hard search.

Lanarkshire / Can anybody help?
« on: Saturday 02 February 08 12:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there and thanks for reading this.
I am totally baffled with this one.
I am looking for the births of Ann Kennedy b c 1809 and Martin Kennedy b c1815 , they are brother and sister. I believe Ann married a Robert Gordon and she appears on the 1851 census as a visitor at brother Martins house in Falkirk. On this census it states that they were both born Lanarkshire Glasgow, but i can't find them, or rather i can find plenty Anns but no Martin Kennedy births.
I would appreciate any help as i have been searching a long, long, long, long time

Ps They both emigrated to Canada in the mid 1850's

Berwickshire / Bookless
« on: Saturday 17 March 07 21:24 GMT (UK)  »
   Hi there
Iam trying to trace my GGGgrandfather Gilbert Bookless[Buckless,Buglas,
 Bouglas].
He married Helen Dods 1821 Westruther. On the 1841 census they are living
in Galashiels with their family and on the 1851 census Gilbert is a widower
 still in Gala.
It states on this census that he was born in Berwick [going by his age ]
 c1791.
I can't find a birth or death cert for him on Scotlands People [and they do
include Berwickshire in their records] Although there are a lot of Booklesses
around Coldingham and Coldstream at that time.
Gilbert must have died before the 1861 Census.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as i have been trying to track Gilbert
 down for a long time.
    Many thanks
