Technical Help / Family Search web site
« on: Wednesday 27 June 18 17:50 BST (UK)  »
I have not used this site for a while and was surprised to see that Ihad to log in before I did a search.I went to log in or register part and they asked for my age and date of birth and whether I was a member of the Mormons. My friend said she had the same trouble and there were other questions asked too which I didn’t bother to look at.
Has anyone else experienced this

The Common Room / Gggrandfather Found after 15years
« on: Thursday 12 April 18 12:19 BST (UK)  »
Don’t give up hope.About 15years ago I sent for the death cert of my gggrandfather Richard Light .When it arrived I put it to one side because although the date 1875 coukd fit I didn’t think his death as a Che,lsea Pensioner He was on trial at the Old Bailey in 1842 for bigamy twice over and sentenced to 7years transportation.Put onthe hulk York in Gosport I found from National Archives he had been pardoned Censuses show he was in the Westminster Chelsea areas and just a labourer.
Chelsea Pensioners records appeared on Ancestry.....and there he was ...birthplace correct and the info that he had served at Waterloo,
My day was made

The Lighter Side / Who remembers Empire Day?
« on: Wednesday 24 May 17 15:00 BST (UK)  »
May 24th .....my Dads birthday and Empire Day.Going to a small church school in Kew Surrey we would go to church in the morning and have the rest of the day off.We had our union jacks which we held with pride .My Dad being very patriotic stood up whenever he heard the National Anthem. This could even be at breakfast time if it was played on the radio for a royal birthday.Remember the anthem being played at the end of a theatre or cinema performance ....everyone stood up.

I am trying to contact any member of this family so that I can return to them an envelope containing lettters ,Family trees etc connected with their family.when my husband died last year I found an envelope full of original lettters going back to 1840s ....some letters from Windsor Castle. This envelope has an address on the back of Glennie ,Waterlooville and was sent in 1996 At the time my husband had been researching the one and only name on our nearest church War Memorial...Robert Alexander Wallis Wilson and somehow he was sent all the wonderful papers which I would like to return to the family.
Any help would be appreciated
