Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Tansley Parish Records - Actual PR entry
« on: Saturday 13 February 16 15:22 GMT (UK)  »
Would anyone have access to the actual parish registers for Tansley Holy Trinity? I have a transcription from here http://www.tansleychurch.org.uk/registers/baptismM.html for Gertrude McDonald, daughter of Isaiah and Edith bap 20/10/1897. There is an asterisk after the surname which denotes there is additional information in the register.

Can anyone help with the additional information please?

Cheers

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Census look up - street names
« on: Friday 22 May 15 18:59 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out the occupants of the following:-

Houses 28/30/32/34 Eyre Street / Eyre Street East, Hasland, Derbyshire

If some kind person has a street index and can give me references I can then hopefully find the record - I am OK with the 1911 census but it's before then and particularly 1901, struggling to find a site which does a street search now.

Many thanks

I have a Jane Rawe and Thomas Longridge (bap Newburn 1692 son of Michael) license to marry in 1716, both were of Newburn parish. They had 3 children, William, Michael and George, Thomas died in 1726.

I have checked all the usual sources (familysearch, FindMyPast, ancestry, durham records on line and loads of family trees etc) and there doesn't seem to be a baptism in Newburn, but there is one in Chester - le Street 16 May 1703 father Hugh Rawe.

What I am trying to find is who Jane's mother is, I can't see a record in Durham / Northumberland for a marriage for Hugh Rawe. It seems that Jane was the first child 1703 with a second child Hugh bap in 1705, nothing else after that.

Any help in tracing Hugh's wife most appreciated, I know the early 1700s records can be a bit of a problem and according to durhamrecordsonline marriage registers are missing for Chester le Street from 1678 - 1708 so I suspect there will be no answer somehow.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Orton on the Hill Parish Records - JOHN LEA
« on: Saturday 14 March 15 16:19 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for a baptism for John Lea around 1756. He married Elizabeth Leedham in 1781 in Rosliston (Derbys) and all their children were baptised there. One of the witnesses to that marriage was a Measom Lea who may be John's brother - Measom (Measham) married, baptised children and was buried in Orton on the Hill.

John died in 1830 aged 74 and was buried in Rosliston, the register states of Twycross.

I cannot find a baptism in Twycross or Rosliston for John but I have found a baptism in Shenton in 1751 parents Francis and Sarah; that doesn't fit well with his age on burial, but it's another possibility to check out.

If anyone can check the Orton PRs for John that would be really great.

Any help much appreciated

Essex Lookup Requests / Death / Burial record Hugh Byrne Colchester
« on: Friday 14 March 14 17:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all

I am looking for the death / burial of Hugh Byrne ( and variant spellings!), he married Elizabeth Dines in 1828, Ipswich and the last known record of him was as landlord of the Waterloo Pub in Colchester 1832/1833. No trace of him after 1837 so presumably he died between 1833 and 1837,  I have looked through familysearch, freereg, FindMyPast and Ancestry and nothing there.

I think I can see his widow Elizabeth on the 1851 census in Colchester Holy Trinity so presumably they stayed in Colchester . She is found in the 1861 census in Colchester but shown as Barnes, subsequent death in 1867, burial St Giles.

Can anyone help please?

« on: Friday 24 January 14 16:05 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help me find Alice please, I am searching in Derbyshire but she spent her life in Ilkeston so I will try the Nottinghamshire board if she can't be found here as it's so close to the border.

Alice Lennox b c1726  married Joseph Smith 3 Jan 1751 Ilkeston St Mary. They had the following children all bap Ilkeston

John 1752 married Elizabeth Gregory 1779 d 1831
Ann 1756
Joseph 1758
Elizabeth 1760
William 1761
Alice 1766
Thomas 1770  married Hannah West 1797 d 1840
Samuel 1774 d 1852

Alice's baptism isn't in the Ilkeston St Mary parish registers and I have also tried familysearch. ancestry and findmypast. She was buried Ilkeston St Mary in 1809 aged 83 years.

Any help much appreciated

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Jane Watson missing baptism
« on: Tuesday 26 March 13 18:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone

I have parents John Watson a farmer and Mary Hinks, married 28 May 1823 Ansley with the following children

Louisa 1825 bap Ansley
William 1828 bap Ansley
John 1831 bap Ansley
Thomas Houlding 1835 bap Walsgrave on Sowe
Eleanor 1846 bap Walsgrave on Sowe

All the above are mentioned in their father's will dated 1856 but another daughter Jane is also mentioned. Jane married a Charles Henry Parsons 13 June 1850 in Walsgrave on Sowe and it says of full age. Census records show

1851 b 1823 Birmingham
1861 b 1826 Sowe
1871 b 1824 Ansley

Ancestry and freereg have transcriptions for both Ansley and Walsgrave and Jane isn't there. Nothing on familysearch.org, findmypast or the OPC for Warwickshire either.

Can anyone help to find her baptism?

Sussex Lookup Requests / Adam Morris death
« on: Sunday 23 September 12 16:03 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find Adam Morris who doesn't appear on the 1841 census. He married Ann(e) ? presumably in Brighton c1802 & baptised the following children in St Nicholas, Ann 1804,  Rebecca 1810, John 1806 , Martha 1818, William 1803 & George 1815. He was shown as father on Martha's marriage in Brighton 1838 (doesn't actually say deceased so he may / may not be alive then).

If anyone has access to Brighton St Nicholas PRs I would a appreciate a burial look up please, presumably prior to civil registration as I can't find a death for him either before 1841. I have tried FindMyPast, ancestry & familysearch without success.
