Staffordshire / Flint mill stone
« on: Saturday 13 June 15 20:55 BST (UK)  »
In 2013 I provided information to the restoration man programme regarding the Bill family who opened the mill. By chance it is on tonight and I will have to watch again for the significance. I had a member of my family that was a servant to the daughters of Robert. Nice suprise

Yorkshire East Riding Resources & Offers / Link: Yorkshire Film Archive
« on: Thursday 09 September 10 10:43 BST (UK)  »
Today I was internet searching and found a wonderful film resource for anyone interested in the Yorkshire region.

http://www.yfaonline.com/

The content of the films vary from personal footage to particular areas of Yorkshire. I was helping another rootschat member find a particular St in Sheffield and the film archive had a film with these streets identified, prior to slum clearance in the 1950's a description and a 18 minute clip of the film was able to be watched.

I had missed this resource and when I checked it had been identified on Rootchat under the West Riding of Yorkshire May 2010 although there are clips from north, south east ridings of Yorkshire.

Posted today generally  has I think other Rootschat members may find it useful

The Common Room / Name change from marriage to death .Is this unusual
« on: Wednesday 21 July 10 15:21 BST (UK)  »
Please could someone offer some general advice. I have a marriage certificate  that gives marriage details of a couple the male has the same forenames and surnames throughout his life. The woman has three forenames then surname at marriage.
on the ladies death certificate there is the same forename, a different middle name and of course the married surname.

I have not been able to find  the birth details of this lady born circa 1924 and her death (1966) was of a sensitive nature.
There was a inquest therefore I assume that the coroner has registered the death. Could this be  the reason why the names are different ? I have left the details anonymously has there may be living relatives.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / help with emailed photo (private Pic)
« on: Monday 22 February 10 20:55 GMT (UK)  »
Please would anyone be able to help with increasing a group picture size of my GG grandfather. It was sent to me via email from a contact today not sure DPI scanned. it covers four generations of my family and there may be still living members therefore I would like help via the private messaging system if possible.

The size of the picture is very small and I would like greater definition of the people in the photo and a larger size if possible.

Thank you for any assistance

I have a annual sub to Ancestry UK. I have been trying to save some people to a family tree but each time that I input gender etc the screen changes to Ancestry free trial pages. This has happened quite often and the individuals I try to add are not saved or added to my tree. I am getting frustrated with this problem.

Has anyone a similiar problem? I am using a Mac computer.

Thanks Mum of Two

The Common Room / First Name HENERADE (Henry)
« on: Tuesday 07 April 09 21:17 BST (UK)  »
I recently recieved a birth certificate for Henerade Hatfield born 1838 Nottingham, England. This man was known in his life has Henry Hatfield according to Census, Marriage Parish records, Death cert etc.

Has any fellow Rootschat members come across this first name ?  Is it a unusual name ?

The family Thomas Hatfield & Elizabeth Hatfield (formerly Oliver) had a previous child known has Henry Hatfield who died as a infant therefore I feel they wanted this child to have a different name.

Look forward to any replies.

Teresa
