« on: Tuesday 01 August 06 15:18 BST (UK)  »
William Hotson born 1820 in Canonbie Scotland came to Canada sometime between 1850 and 1855 , notsure.      He married Agnes Ashcroft in 1855 in Port Hope.
He mirgrated to the U. S. in 1875 . But would like to where he lived while in Canada.
Also have no information on Agnes Ashcroft. She was born in Scotland in 1840.Came to Canadain 1841, I think. Would like to find out the names of her parents. Some of the family members think her father's name was John. Any information would be greatly welcomed.

Dumfriesshire / Looking for Hotson in Canonbie
« on: Sunday 30 July 06 20:12 BST (UK)  »
Have been trying to find the parents of William Hotson born 15 Jan 1820 in Canonbie, Scotland. Have no luck at all. He went to Canada around 1850. He married Anges Ashcroft 1855 in Port Hope Canada, they had 11 children. Then went to the United States in 1875, settled in Missouri , Kansas the to Oklahoma. Was in the land rush of 1893 in Oklahoma. He died in 1906 in Hayward Oklahoma. We have looked and looked for his parents with no luck. Any help would be welcomed.
Fairly well sure the spelling is right on the name.
Have a letter written by an A.E. Hotson stating that he was the brother of William.
Also that the great-grandmother was Grizel Nichol who married Alexander Hotson their son William went to England and died there in 1866. Another dead end.
Other sons went to Canada. But can't make the connection between this William and them.
Also they are cousins to the Beattie's. One of Williams sons is named William Beattie Hotson.
Alexander and Grizel's daughter married a William Beattie. The mystery thickens.
Still stumped, but not giving up.
