Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / William Rogers 1804 - Sutton, Cambridgeshire?
« on: Sunday 23 February 14 21:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All,

looking for his parents baptisms, were they in Sutton as well?, please ignore my last post about Littleport, resolved that with a bit of research.

Parents are: William Rogers and Elizabeth(don't know her maiden name yet), not sure about dates. Wondering if the link is with Sutton later on or Littleport.

Thanks for your help,

Norfolk / William Rogers Born c1802
« on: Thursday 17 July 08 13:17 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,
I have posted this request in the Norfolk look ups section, but I have recieved 0 responses! Having looked up baptisms with the http://www.cfhs.org.uk web site I am unable to find my g-g-g-g grandfather William Rogers Born in Littleport 1802. As Littleport is quite close to Norfolk border could someone please check if he was baptised outside Cambridgeshire. It may be that his mother was born outside the county, I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks in advance for all your assistance,

Ke

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Birth/Baptism of William Rogers
« on: Wednesday 16 July 08 09:40 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

Thank you very much for your help so far, to date I have traced back my family tree to my g-g-g-g grandfather William Rogers who was born in Littleport in c1802, using birth certificates and online records. I am however at a brickwall, i cannot establish if he was baptised outside the county and if so why. Having viewed the CFHS baptism records I am unable to find him in the county, I know for a fact he was born in Littleport 1802( the 1841 census has confirmed this), yet there is no William Rogers who's abode is Littleport in the records. My first explaination for this was that perhaps his family originally come from somewhere other than Littleport!! which would be a shocker!

Therefore I am looking for the birth/baptism records of William, so I can establish if his mother or father were from outside the county thus explaining his baptismal absence or if they were from further north or south in the county. I also considered that just his mother may have been born outside the county and he was baptised in her town. I don't know if any of you have records that go back that far!, I will keep my fingers crossed!!

Thank you in advance for your assistance and let me know if you need any further info.

Kind regards

Ke

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / William Rogers Born c1802

Hello all,

I know its a big leap back!, I hope you can help. If someone has census records for Littleport 1841 or 1851 could they please look up William Rogers, he was Born c1802. I need to confirm where he was born, his son William was born in 1828, Littleport. From a member of my extended family I am led to believe he was born in Littleport too, however on viewing the baptism records of the: http://www.cfhs.org.uk site I am unable to find a William Rogers whose abode is Littleport. Although I am not 100% sure how extensive the records of CFHS are.

The only two I can find are:

1803 ROGERS William - ----- s. of James & Sarah    Willingham -
1803 ROGERS William - ----- s. of Richard & Sarah   Bourn

I am not sure if the census of 1841 or 1851 will clear this up, but its a good starting point. Will the census record show place of birth? or will I need to go to Cambridge Shire Hall and look up the baptism records? I suppose I will anyway to double check I have the right fellow.

Another question I have is the age of baptism, would a child always be baptised within a year of birth or could this have been carried out later?

Thanks in Advance for all your assistance  :)

Hello all, Looking for any information on the parentage of Arabella Arnett, she married Edmund Leach in Ely, 1918, just really curious as to whether the marriage data would contain any info on her parents names, and her age when she married! I know she hails from the London area!

Many thanks,

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Herbert Edward Gill Marriage look up
« on: Wednesday 09 May 07 22:59 BST (UK)  »
hey all,
After concentrating on my fathers side of the family, i thought my mother was feeling left out so to that end I'm looking for info on my greatgrandfather, Herbert Edward Gill, Im trying to trace his marriage, it was in 1922 i believe but i can only find one marriage in Ely that year with my greatgrandmothers maiden name which was Day.

so i just wish to confirm this was him, and perhaps any info on where he was born as i'm not 100% on this. Im also trying to trace when he was born, as he could have been any age when he was married in 1922.

any help would be great,  ;D

« on: Saturday 19 August 06 22:02 BST (UK)  »
hi all,
thanks for everyones help so far, i am looking for an early census report on Sarah Martin, born 1802, Ely, cambs. im trying to trace who she was married to in the 1860s,so i can trace any connections to the Johnson family.

in the 1881 census it has her living with the Johnson family and i am yet to find the connection between the martin family and the Johnson one.

it says in the 1901 census that my greatgrandfather was living with his grandmother who was called Johnson, yet his mothers maiden name was in fact martin! greatgrandmother maybe?!

thanks for your time and help
