I am hoping somebody can help me, I use to use Genes for keeping a basic tree on, it has been a while since I have used the site, today I went on the site to see what trees had been shared with me and who I had shared with. I remember there use to be a facility to remove people you had shared with, I seem to be going round in circles trying to find this option, can anybody help please.

The Common Room / Photographs
« on: Monday 24 June 13 10:37 BST (UK)  »
I am not sure I have posted on the right board, but I was after some advice concerning photographs, I own some family photographs, three of these I emailed a copy to a cousin, who then put them on her public tree on Ancestry, which have been copied to other trees, not what I intended them for but I have let it go. I have  found a tree hosted by rootsweb which now has two of these photographs on and she has put a copyright on the Family Sheet with them, can she do this, I know I do not own the family information but I do own the photographs.

I do not know this person, so I have never given permission for her to use them.

Any advice please.

Technical Help / TribalPages
« on: Thursday 05 January 12 09:47 GMT (UK)  »
Does anybody else have a TribalPages Family tree with private settings - I have a tree on TribalPages which I have settings at private and I have not opted for my dead ancestors to be included in the TribalPages Directory, but last year discovered that all the names are included in TribalPages Directory search results.

I was under the impression I could make my tree on TribalPages completely private.

I was wondering if anybody else had the same settings and if the names of their dead ancestors showed in search results.

I have been trying to find out if any apprentice records  for French Polishers from the London area between 1800 and 1900 exist and where they would be kept. Thanks.

The Common Room / Slightly Confused
« on: Friday 25 September 09 09:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have been using the London Records on Ancestry, I am slightly confused as how to enter a place of baptism on my tree for a few records.

On the search results baptism is listed as All Saints, Laleham, Surrey, on the image it is St. Andrew, Surrey, what would be the correct way to record it on my tree.

I presume St. Andrew was a church in the parish of All Saints, Laleham.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Reginald Road, Deptford.
« on: Tuesday 11 August 09 13:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi.
Could anybody tell me if there are any pictures of Reginald Road Deptford, my father was born there in 1915 and I have been trying to find something around that time.

I have also been trying to find his baptism and his siblings with no luck, I have had the baptism registers of St. Nicolas Deptford searched, I am not sure which church to do next.

Sussex / Occupation
« on: Tuesday 14 July 09 17:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi
My mum always described her great uncle as being a Fretter, he made his money from what he found on the beach at Eastbourne, he did very little other work. I can find no reference to the term Fretter and as my mothers family are mostly from Sussex, I was wondering if this is a Sussex expression, has anybody else heard of it.

The Lighter Side / Ancestry
« on: Wednesday 08 July 09 16:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Does anybody else find it upsetting to find the deaths of close relatives on public trees on Ancestry, my mum died on Christmas day and it was on Ancestry within  6 weeks with full details and is now being copied to other trees, it would of been nice if it had not been put on for a year, out of respect for family. Perhaps it is just me.

The Common Room / Some Advice Please
« on: Wednesday 27 May 09 11:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am hoping for some advice, I have been searching for a marriage for my GG grandparents for several years GG grandfather was in the Army, I have purchased birth certificates for their children which eventually led  to New Foundland, Canada and is where I have suspected they got married but have never found any proof till today when I found  their marriage amongst many transcribed online for 1839, I have again searched the GRO Army Marriage returns but cannot find it listed, would I be able to apply for their marriage certificate using the date of the marriage I have just found even though its not listed on the marriage returns and if I could would the fathers of the couple be listed on the Army marriage certificate like normal ones.
