Lancashire / GRO Index
« on: Tuesday 11 May 10 16:48 BST (UK)  »
I have traced some of my relatives living in Prestwich on the free BMD and have their GRO Indexes.

I would like to request a copy of the relevant Birth/Marriage and Death certificates from Bury CC Registry office but they have told me that they do not use GRO Indexes. Since I cannot find any entries on the Lancashire BMD is there any other source reference I can refer to besides GRO Index.

Best Regards,

Paul

Down / Parish Registers - Harrison
« on: Friday 16 April 10 11:17 BST (UK)  »
My Paternal Great Grandfather James Harrison was born around 1864 in the county of Down. His birth certificate mentions Ballyhannon but the handwriting is a bit shaky so I could be reading this incorrectly.

I have tracked the family down on the 1911 Census living at Number 7 Junction Row in Portadown, Armagh. His religion is shown as COI. He married a Margaret Marshall in 1882? According to the 1911 Census they had 4 children but only 3 survived. I know of a John and Thomas Harrison but I have no clues to the other 2.

I would like to know if there are any parish registers available on-line that I can search.

I would also like to find any parish registry entries for John Levingston Harrison; Jame's father. I am assuming that he would have resided in the County of Down since that was where James was born.

Any help/information will be greatfully accepted

Lanarkshire / Thomas Harrison's Children
« on: Wednesday 14 April 10 12:59 BST (UK)  »
My great uncle Thomas Harrison had 5 children between the years 1925 and 1941. All his children died within the first few years.

I would like to find out where their graves are located.

I believe Thomas was married to a Martha McLean in 1925 and they lived in Chalmers Street in Greenock.

Their children's names are:

Willliam Harrison (B: Sep 1925 D: Oct 1925)
Margaret Harrison (B: Oct 1926 D: Dec 1926)
John Harrison (B: 1928 D: Apr 1930)
Margaret Harrison (B: 1933 D: Nov 1938)
Alexander Harrison (B: 1941 D: Feb 1942)

Since all his children died would there have been an enquiry into their deaths? Could this have been reported in any of the Greenock newspapers?

Any information would be grateful appreciated.

Best Regards

Lancashire / John Molloy
« on: Wednesday 14 April 10 12:44 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find John Molloy in the 1871 or 1881 UK Censuses without any success.

What do I know about John. John Molloy was married to a Margaret Smith in 1887. According to the Marriage Certificate John was living at 17 Boslam Street. The name of his father is shown as Michael.

I found John Molloy in the 1891 UK Census living at 49 New Bank Street in Gorton. His place of birth is shown as Manchester Lancashire about 1864.

Any help in locating Michael and John Molloy in the 1871 or 1881 censuses would be very much appreciated.

My brother-in-laws father passed away shortly.

He was a pilot with the RAF Pathfinder Squadron during world war two; I believe flying Lancasters.

His name is Pilot Officer/Flying Officer Gerald Arthur Mitchell.

I would like to find out more about his service in the RAF and would be grateful is someone could tell me to whom I can contact.

Many Thanks
