Durham / Burns family
« on: Friday 11 February 22 15:47 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching the Burns family and looking for a possible connection.
James 1874 and Sarah Burns 1888. Lived in King Street, Birtley.
Children. Mary, Sarah Edna and James Basil. There were another 2 children born at later dates but I have withheld these as they may still be living?
Possible marriage for Mary Burns b 1916 to John Nichols Ap June quarter 1936.
Wondered if any relatives are still around the area.
Thanks.

Durham / The mystery old pit.
« on: Friday 11 February 22 11:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hi.
Can anyone shed a light on an old pit. I was informed this was called Fan blast pit. It was between Washington and Birtley. Maybe around the Mill House pub around pre 1906ish. Was it an off shot of one of the main pits?

United States of America / Dodgson's of Richmond colony Virginia
« on: Friday 07 May 21 13:10 BST (UK)  »
Hello Richmond.
I am aware there are quite a few Dodgson families out there in Richmond Virginia and hope someone can enlighten me to add to my large Dodgson clan.
My 8th great/g father William Dodson was born in 1651 in Richmond colony.
Gathered his father was out there in early 1600s. There appears to be conflicting stories and would be grateful of some information. I know John Dod's was on Captain Smiths ship, sailing to Jamestown colony. This is about all knowledge I have of Richmond Dodgson's. The spelling is variant both sides of the water I noticed.

Hi fellow rooters.
Help in locating Burns family still living in Washington. James Burns living in Usworth in particular. He was living here in 1930s and would have been in his 40s maybe 50 at that time. That's about as much as I have to go on.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Durham / Scott. Brick wall
« on: Wednesday 08 February 17 16:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hi roots chatters.
Searching for Peter and Sarah Scott nee Hill married 1913 Gateshead. I think it may have been 2nd marriage for both. Hit a brick wall as to whether they had children from this marriage. Apart from waiting for 1921 census, it's pretty frustrating. Any help or hints much appreciated.
Thanks. Dido.

Armagh / The Oneill connection
« on: Thursday 29 September 16 22:57 BST (UK)  »
I have managed to trace back to around late 17hundreds. Would love to know more about Charles O'Neill b circa 1780 married Catherine McConnell. One of their children was Henry b 1815. but cant find anymore of their children or the parents of Charles and Catherine McConnell.
Tandragee seems to be the more prominent place of the O'Neill family at the time and later. Anyone know of the existence of them, or any of McConnell families familiar with the O'Neill connection
Any snippet would be a great help.
Thanks so much Rooters.

I have discovered this strong family link in my research and wondered if any rooters know of or also researching this family?

Catherine b 1847 Heworth married William McStea. They had 5 girls and 4 boys. I have all their births. Catherine I think, died in 1929 aged 82. Would greatly appreciate any info. Many thanks.       Dido.
