Yorkshire (North Riding) / Elizabeth Hull. Stays.
« on: Monday 09 May 22 16:49 BST (UK)  »
I have a record of the birth of Edward Burnsides 9 February 1803 to

Ambrose Burnsides, native of Blackwell  (Darlington)
by his wife
Elizabeth Hull native of Stays

Anyone know of Stays, or could it be Staithes (colloq)

Cannot find the marriage of Elizabeth Hull and Ambrose, but have a marriage for Elizabeth Harrison (widow)  to Ambrose 16 February 1802, St Cuthbert Darlington.

Could Elizabeth Hull and Elizabeth Harrison be the same person,  and where is/was Stays?

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Elsie Williams Redcar
« on: Tuesday 11 January 22 11:37 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to find information, with very little to go on, about Elsie Williams.

I believe she was my Godmother (1932), possibly worked at Cargo Fleet Steel and Iron, lived in Corporation Road, Redcar (may have been number 22), I do not recall a husband so assume she was single, (widowed or divorced?).

I knew her as Auntie Elsie but there was no family connection.

Cannot find anything on census, 1939 register or electoral rolls that fits.

Any help or suggestions please.

Can anyone tell me if extra houses were built on Appleton Road some time after the war?  I have pictures of my mother outside 12 Appleton Road where they lived 1924 to 1930. Google street view now looks very different.
