« on: Sunday 16 November 08 15:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have found someone in my tree whose occupation was
Back Wheeler.
He lived in Clitheroe, Lancashire and i am assuming that he worked in
Low Moor mill with the rest of the family.
Can anybody tell me what a back Wheeler was please?
I have googled it but it hasn't helped!

Thanks

Worcestershire / strange place name
« on: Sunday 26 October 08 16:14 GMT (UK)  »
I have just printed of a census entry for Thomas Nutt b 1832.
It says he was born in Lystire Poll, Worcestershire.
I've googled it and looked on maps but can't find anything like it.

Does anybody have any idea what it could be?

The Common Room / No cause of death.
« on: Saturday 02 June 07 10:25 BST (UK)  »
I have just recieved a death certificate for my GG Grandfather from 1890.
There is no cause of death registered which is really frustrating as that is what I wanted to know!

I can't understand how they could have issued a certificate without cause of death. Does it mean that because he was 72 they didn't bother about why he died? Or could it mean that there was some sort of an inquest?
Thanks.

Armed Forces / WATERLOO HELP PLEASE 5 what?
« on: Saturday 25 November 06 22:26 GMT (UK)  »
My research has taken me back to my gg grandfather Henry Hill he was born in Fort Monkton in Portsmouth in 1816.Now I would like to go back further but as I am not familiar with military research I have got stuck. All that I know is that my ggg grandfather was also a Henry Hill and that his wife gave birth in Portsmouth in 1816 this of course does not mean that daddy Henry was around at the time although he most obviously was in 1815!
He is listed on my gg's parish records as being a 'musician in the 5'so has anyone got any ideas as to what the '5' may be and how I can check and would there be any medal records for service that may tell me etc.

Family History Beginners Board / Armenian ancestor
« on: Sunday 15 October 06 16:22 BST (UK)  »
How do I go about tracing an Armenian ancestor? He was a lodger with a family in Rusholme,Manchester and worked, so family say, at Manchester Royal Infirmary in about 1895. The biggest problem is that I don't have a name.
Any ideas? I would really like to prove if he is my great grandfather or if it is just one of those stories..

Lincolnshire / Missing SHARPE
« on: Thursday 12 October 06 22:15 BST (UK)  »
Alfred W. Sharpe
He was born in 1880 in Market Deeping. His parents John and Emma
Sharpe ran The Wheatsheaf in Towngate.
I have Alfred in the 1881 census but then he disappears.
I can't find him in an other censuses and can't find a death.
The 1891 census has his mother living in Altrincham, Cheshire with his sisters
but no sign of him. I've traced all the others but he is a mystery.
Any ideas?
