« on: Friday 12 March 21 16:49 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking at a service record for a relative in WW2. It states that he enlisted in April 1944 and in May was posted to 9 P.T.C. in Glasgow. Is anyone able to tell me what this refers to please? I can make out most of the rest.
Thank you,
Lesley

World War One / WW1 - Military Foot Police
« on: Monday 07 March 11 19:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have a copy of the medal card for a Walter Noone, who it seems was initially in the Scots Guards, and then the Military Foot Police.

Scots Guards Pte 8353
MFP  P/3912
MFP 1345

Can anyone tell me anything about the Military Foot Police? Walter Noone's service records do not seem to have survived. I assume that the Military Foot Police were a forerunner of the Corps of Military Police?

Many thanks,
Lesley

Hi,

Does anyone have access to Canterbury marriage details for the period 1830-1840? I have three marriages which I am trying to find, and which may have taken place in Canterbury.
Edward Knell , born circa1811, to a Harriet. Their first known child born in 1840

John Knell, born circa 1814, to a Charlotte, possibly Bonner. Their first known child born 1836

Thomas Knell, born circa 1817, to a Martha. Their first known child born 1840.

Many thanks for your help,
Regards,
Lesley

Kent / Catt, Hawkhurst
« on: Friday 11 September 09 20:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help with baptisms for Catt family members in Hawkhurst between about 1575 and 1615? I have found some baptisms on the IGI but very few in total. I have a Nicholas Catt who said he was of Hawkhurst at the time of his marriage to Ann Freman on 21.09.1607 in Ewhurst, Sussex, and I am trying to discover more about his origins. Any information about the Catt family would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Lesley

Sussex Lookup Requests / 1841 Ninfield
« on: Sunday 26 February 06 10:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Iam looking for  George Harmer born circa 1810 in Heathfield, his wife Ann, born circa 1814 in Kent, and son John born circa 1836 in Ninfield. They married in Ninfield in 1838. By 1845 the family was in Hastings, but I haven't been able to find them there in 1841. Would it be possible please, for someone to check the 1841 census for Ninfield to see if they are still there.
Many thanks,
Lesley

Hi,
Can anyone help me find the family of Charles Knell and his wife Elizabeth(nee Chilton) in 1851 please. In 1861 they were at 3 De Lasaux Square,Canterbury:

Charles Knell  41 carpenter b.Canterbury
Elizabeth wife 40 b Canterbury
George A son 15 b Canterbury
John   son  14 errand boy b Canterbury
Frederick son 8 scholar b Canterbury
Richard W son 3 b Canterbury
Walter J son  6 m b Canterbury

I am also trying to find them in 1841, before they married.
In 1843 Charles was resident in Gas Street, Canterbury, the son of John Knell a cordwainer.
Elizabeth was resident in Castle Row,  Canterburythe daughter of Joseph Chilton a grocer, though whether he was from Canterbury I don't know.

Many thanks,
