Australia / Thomas Jeffree Cornwall to Australia
« on: Friday 20 January 17 18:17 GMT (UK)  »
I have also have a topic about this family on the South Africa board.
According to this tree :http://www.genealogy.com/ftm/j/e/f/Dianne-Jeffree-South-Australia/index.html
Thomas Jeffree born 1847,emigrated to Australia and married Sarah Ann Gould.
She has the correct parents of Thomas in her tree , but would his mother's name appear on the marriage certificate or indeed a death certificate for her to know this?

Added:
I am unable to find emigration information.

Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / Jeffree family born Camborne lived in Marazion
« on: Sunday 15 January 17 19:08 GMT (UK)  »
I have left a post about the Jeffree family on the South Africa board as well.
Josiah a widower, is living at Rospeath in 1881, spelling Jeffery. Registration district Penzance Archive reference RG11 Piece number 2339 Folio 6 Page 5 with his grandsons -Thomas born 1866 and Richard born 1880. There is a housekeeper Ann Bryant who is single .( Josiah/Isiah died in 1886.)
I have no idea who their father is because according to this link http://www.genealogy.com/ftm/j/e/f/Dianne-Jeffree-South-Australia/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0191.html most of Josiah/Isiah sons emigrated.
I haven't found William born 1843 a son of Josiah and Hannah.
In 1891 Ann Bryant, single, is living with Richard J Bryant born 1880 and Catherine J Bryant born 1883.
There is a birth of Richard John Jeffrey Bryant March qtr 1880 in the Penzance area and I wonder if he is the one and the same Richard in the 1881 census with Josiah.
In 1871 Thomas is down as a son of Isiah and Hannah Jeffery ,butwho is his father? I wonder if he is a grandson because his birth year is 1865 which is just a year out from 1881.
No idea where he is either.

South Africa / Richard Jeffree/Jeffrey died 1875
« on: Friday 13 January 17 22:01 GMT (UK)  »
Not having very much luck with the Jeffree side of the family I decided to renew my search.
I have just found that Richard Jeffree born 1853 in Camborne,Cornwall apparently died in South Africa. The tree is on Ancestry and I am not a subscriber.
Richard's parents were Josiah/Isaiah and Hannah Floyd.
There is also Isiah born 1843,John born 1850 and Thomas in 1865. All in Cornwall.
Any help appreciated.

Cornwall / Completed:Frederick Truan born 1858 Lamorran
« on: Wednesday 28 December 16 18:49 GMT (UK)  »
Looking at my family tree I didn't realise until yesterday that Frederick Truan the son of John Thomas and Maria Truan was born or baptised in 1858, although his parents weren't married until April 1861.
How I missed this before I don't know. ::)
I have found John Thomas in the 1861 census as single and a boarder with a family called Woodward at Trewithian Village and he was born Veryan.
I looked for Maria Ellings the wife of John in the 1861 census and found Maria living with her parents-Charles and Elizabeth at Tregenna, Lamorran, Truro, Cornwall, England.
Frederick  is  age 3 and written as a son, (to Charles and  Elizabeth )born Lamorran.
It would seem that he is the child living with Maria and John in 1871 by then age 13 and born at Lamorran and the family were living at  Perranwell.
I haven't been able to find a birth of baptism for him and I wonder if somebody could help.
Maybe he was illegitimate and John gave him his surname, who knows.
I don't want to send for a birth certificate.
Frederick married in Penponds in 1881  because  the family were living at Treswithian Downs.
which is the Camborne area.

1881 Myra born 1848 is living with her husband John Brace born 1836 and their son John H Brace born 1880 at Spring Hill, Hasbury, Stourbridge, Worcestershire, England. I have found the family in 1891,1901 and 1911.
I can't find Myra in the 1871 census. Myra married John Brace on the 21 May 1877 at Sedgley Parish Stafford.
In 1861 Myra born 1853 is living with her father Thomas Tromans and her stepmother Elizabeth  in Phillack, Cornwall. Thomas dies in 1863 in Cornwall
By 1871 Myra's stepmother has remarried and she is living with  Charles W Southorn and her children at Maughan Street, Kingswinford, Stourbridge, Worcestershire, England.
By this time the childrens' spelling has changed to Thomas from Tromans but no Myra.
Myra's year of birth changes througout each census but her place of birth which was Cradley stays throughout.
Added:
Myra was a Tromans in 1871,so added fact in subject line.

Cornwall / Harriet Rowarth nee Collins
« on: Monday 08 August 16 11:43 BST (UK)  »
After finding Maria Truan ,single, age 55  visiting her sister Harriet Rowarth age 57  at St Just in Roseland in 1911, I decided to bite the bullet and ordered a marriage certifcate hoping that Harriet was a Truan before marriage.
Unforunately it seems that I was wrong.
This Harriet age 23 and single, married David Rowarth age 24 and single, in 1878. Harriet's father was named Peter Collins and Harriet was living at Morice Street, Devonport.
I cannot find Harriet Truan after 1871
The Harriet that I am seeking had sisters Maria and Elizabeth and their father was named Peter.
I looked at various censuses and Harriet's husband was born in Manchester.
Elizabeth Truan had a daughter named Edith Truan who was born in Manchester and both then lived in Cornwall.
Harriet and Maria in 1911 are younger than the two that I have in my tree but Harriet Truan's  age  changed between 1861 and 1871 whilst living in Cornwall.

I am unable to find Peter Henry, Harriet and Elizabeth Truan.
In 1851 Peter and Harriet  are  living with their  parents Peter and Eliza  and siblings at Gerrans and in 1861 Elizabeth is there but Peter and Harriet have disappeared.
There is a thread about this family ( Peter TRUAN/TRUEN/TRURAN ) and the family has various spellings of the surname.
I have information about the rest of the siblings and just want to know what happened to these three.

Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / Henry Truan incoming passenger list
« on: Tuesday 05 July 16 10:27 BST (UK)  »
I found details of Henry Truan born abt 1875 who, according to Ellis Island, travels to the US 1904;1906;1909 and 1920.
I would like to know the name of the person he returns to especially in 1904 and 1906.
Henry lived in the Camborne area.
I don't know the dates that he returned but he appears in the US 1910 census with his wife Annie (nee Pendray) whom he married in1902 in the Redruth district.
Henry's mother was Maria J born abt 1847.

Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / Jane Ada Maud Oatey Camborne 1939
« on: Monday 04 July 16 21:17 BST (UK)  »
I can't find the above in the 1939 register. Jane was born in Camborne in 1886 and in the 1930 and 1931 electoral rolls she was living at 47,Carnarthen Street,Camborne with her husband Ernest born 1888.
Ernest appears in the 1939 register living at 38 Stray Park Road, which is a street just around the corner and is married and seems to be living with a William J Oatey who could be a brother.
I have tried many spellings and have had no luck and have even left out Cornwall in the search engine.
Jane died in 1941 in the Redruth district.
Any help appreciated.
Added: According to her 1941 obituary, Jane was living at South Roskear Terrace,Camborne at the time of her death.
Added: Decided to put street name in 1939 and looked through the names and Jane  appears as J A Oatley although the original is Oatey on the document. She is with her mother who was Mary J Truran . This has now thrown up another mystery because the  next door neighbours are Truan's and I wonder if they will fit into the family somewhere.
