Worcestershire / Webb family
« on: Sunday 14 October 12 15:52 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone and after years of researching the totally wrong family I have just discovered that my Webb family came from Kidderminster or thereabouts. My Grandfather was Charles Webb  son of James Webb who was a Carpet Planer (I have this info from Charles marriage cert) I understand Charles' first wife was Leah and they had four children.

I believe Charles left Leah and came to Sheffield with Ellen Louisa Felton, the lady who was to become my grandmother. They eventually married in 1936. Ellen Louisa's husband had divorced her in 1920.

I have just started re-researching this family .....hopefully the correct one this time. If anyone has any info on this them I would be more than happy to receive it. I have found them in 1911 census under the name of Weble but have yet to look further back

Technical Help / Problems with one site only
« on: Saturday 01 October 11 08:56 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone and I am hoping one of you clever people will know what is happening to this ridiculous computer.
I have a problem with just one site....the BBC... and it will be fine for a while allowing me to refresh a page or answer messages and then for some reason I get Chrome cannot find the page.... I have tried using another browser and it is still the same problem... when this is happening it won't allow me to access any BBC site at all. I leave it for 10/15 mins and then all is well for half an hour and then back to the same.

Hope someone can help. By the way I am not particularly knowledgeable about the mechanics of computers. ::)

Gloucestershire / Divorce in 1920
« on: Wednesday 19 January 11 15:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everyone, I would be interested to find which newspapers were published in Stroud around 1920 and would a divorce be written up. My Grandmother (Ellen Louisa Felton, was divorced by her husband (Charles Felton) in 1920 after she ran away with the man who became my Grandfather (Charles Webb)

She left her husband and three children, he left a wife and five children. I would love to contact the families of all these children ultimately, as they would all have been my Aunts and Uncles! However that is for the future perhaps.

This is the second photo I received today, I will understand if it can't be done as it seems small. My mum is the lady standing. Does anyone recognise the beach, long shot I know and it's pure curiosity on my part. Thank you.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Me and my sisters
« on: Wednesday 23 June 10 20:05 BST (UK)  »
I was given a couple of photos today by my youngest sister. I hope you wonderful people can work your magic on them. I will post them separately. This one is myself on the left, aged nine with my two sisters. I remember having this photo taken, we were in our best dresses (white nylon seersucker)and  we had to sit on a table. For some strange reason my mum put lipstick on me, I hated it as my front teeth were missing and I would only smile with my lips tight shut. As you can see I was not the beauty of the family. ??? This photo is quite dirty as it was kept in my dad's wallet. I would really appreciate a wash and brush up. Thank you in anticipation.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Wright family
« on: Sunday 06 June 10 19:41 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if some kind person would have a go at cleaning up this family group. I don't have the original so I'm not sure if the tops of the heads were chopped off on that. The girl sitting cross legged was my mum, the lady behind her is my gran and the elegant lady in front is my G.Gran. Thank you.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / The choir
« on: Tuesday 18 May 10 13:07 BST (UK)  »
Hello all, I am trying not to be greedy at posting another photo for restoration. This the choir that my Grandad and uncle belonged to.  Grandad had a lovely voice and I remember him singing Oh Mein Papa when I was small. I realised even then that it made everyone emotional but it was only recently that I discovered his father died when he was only 10 years old.

Grandad belonged to the Methodist church whilst Grandma belonged to the C of E.

Thank you in advance.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / 2 Great grans
« on: Friday 14 May 10 12:44 BST (UK)  »
I have just received this photo found by my sister and we understand it is the two Great Grandmothers on our maternal side. I would be really grateful if someone could have a go at cleaning it up please. My sister has unearthed a few more but I promise I won't be greedy. I really appreciate the work you all put in for us less able people.

I put this photo up earlier for dating and the results have flummoxed me. If some kind person would sharpen it up for me I will try and compare it to other members of the family and try to make a guess at who it could be. I am disappointed as I was told it was my grandfather but from the dates suggested that seems highly unlikely. I have no other photos of him even in later life, he died a few years before I was born and we were estranged from dad's side of the family. Thank you.
