Occupation Interests / Gamekeepers
« on: Monday 11 June 12 09:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am after any information about a gamekeeper in Hampshire named Edward Day the dates would have been between 1800-1850. Is there any where I can find information about gamekeepers, I am in Australia so I can't make it to any archive places in the UK. His son Edward D Day was born in 1826 in Selborne Hampshire so his father must have worked in that area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sussex / Help finding Sussex convict.
« on: Monday 07 June 10 12:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have a convict ancestor who was sentanced to Death at the Horsham Assizes in 1807 which was later commuted to transportation for life, his daughter was also sentanced with him she came to Australia in 1808, but I can't find any trace of her father being transported anywhere.
Where were the prisoners put while waiting to be transported? He was 61 when tried so he might have died before being transported.
His name was Cephas Tree B; c1746 Brighton Sussex, his daughter Mary was born :1785 Brighton, Sussex.
If he died while in prison waiting transportion where would they bury him? in a prison cemetery? would there be a record of his death?
I am at my wits end with this guy!!!!!!
If anyone can help or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Australia / Birth and Death lookup in VIC please
« on: Sunday 23 May 10 11:18 BST (UK)  »
hi

I am trying to find the children of John Terry and Sarah West, I know they had Martha B:1840 Yass NSW and Matilda B:1840 NSW, and John B:1850 Moonee Ponds VIC,

now on her 1st husbands death certificate (1854 VIC) it states they had 3 kids Sarah 22yrs, Martha 16yrs, and John 4yrs all living.

Then Sarah married William Henry Hunt in 1855 at Benalla, it states on that wedding certificate that she had 3 kids living and 5 kids deceased.

I can't find any information on Matilda B;1841 so I assume she is one of the deceased kids.

I think they came to VIC from NSW in about 1849-50.

Can anyone please look for any births or deaths for children of John and Sarah Terry in Victoria during the years 1849-1855 please.

Thanks
Joanna
