Warwickshire / John Mee and Mary ???
« on: Monday 23 July 18 22:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I was hoping someone can figure out which John and Mary I'm related to?!

My 4th GF's (John Mee) parents were John Mee and Mary ??.

I have managed to find two possible marriages for them, seperated by a week apart, in the same church.  Infact, the first are John and Mary (Macefield), the second are John and Mary ((Hadley (widow)).  Dated 19 Aug 1827 and 27 Aug 1827 respectively.  Listed on pages on subsequent pages of the register.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out?  or at least let me know that'll i'm have to make a guess  :D

Thank you in advance for your time.

Lee.

I hope the links to the marriages below work  ???

London and Middlesex / William Long
« on: Saturday 02 January 16 18:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Hope you all had a good holiday season.
I was hoping anyone could help me try to trace my 3x Gt GF and hopefully his parents.

His name was William Long, b1857, in 'London' (however 1891 census states Devizes, Wiltshire) and was a gas and water fitter.

He married Matilda Louisa Dove (born 1862, Clacton, Essex) in 1879; unsure on location as year was taken from 1911 census.

They had 4 children; William, John Henry, Thomas Frederick and Charles Pretoria.
All born in Gt Clacton, Essex.

1891 census - Class: RG12; Piece: 1400; Folio: 20; Page: 12; - born London
1901 census - Class: RG13; Piece: 1695; Folio: 36; Page: 33  - born Devizes, Wiltshire
1911 census - Class: RG14; Piece: 10229; Schedule Number: 300  - born London

This is all the info that I have, if anyone could help I would be very grateful.

TIA

Essex / Joseph FAIRWEATHER marriage
« on: Saturday 01 August 15 20:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I am trying to find the marriage between my 5th Gt Grandparents...

He is Joseph Fairweather, b1794, in Clacton and he was married to Sarah? as per 1841 census.
They had 8 children by 1841; first born in 1823.

Unfortunately, I can not find their marriage or her maiden name.

There is a marriage of a Joseph Fairweather to Elizabeth Smith on 07 Mar 1817 in Gt Clacton as per FreeReg.  Firstly, and the obvious one, the names of the two ladies are different, and secondly there appears to be 5-6 years between this marriage and first born child of my Joseph.

Would anybody be kind enough to help me attempt to solve this?

Cheers in advance.

Essex / Benjamin WILES
« on: Tuesday 14 July 15 17:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

I was hoping you more experienced 'rooters' could help me or confirm whether the person I've found is in fact one of my direct ancestors?

I have Benjamin Wiles (my 7th Gt GF), b c1730; exact birth place unk but in Essex, possibly around Gt Bromley.
He married Ruth ? in c1748, unk location and had two children that I know of, Benjamin b1749 and Ruth b1751 (my 6th Gt GM); both baptised in Gt Bromley.

After a bit of searching, I have found a 'Benjamin WILS' baptised 17 Aug 1729 in Coggeshall, with parents Benjamin and Elizabeth.
Also an 'Elizabeth WHYLES' baptised 20 Dec 1730, again in Coggeshall to a Benjamin and Elizabeth.

Apart from not being able to find any other Benjamin Wiles around 1730, the only thing stopping me from connecting the two is that Coggeshall is just over 20miles from Gt Bromley.  Not a great distance by todays standards however.

Can anyone put me out of my misery/help me over this small wall? :)

Thank you in advance guys and girls.

The Common Room / Deciphering Children's Names...
« on: Sunday 05 April 15 08:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
Happy Easter.

Please could anyone help deciphering the names on the attached picture?

So far, I (and mainly the Wife) have guessed...

Thomas
??
Frank
John
Doris ?
??
Fred

Class: RG14; Piece: 18231

I can't believe I've never noticed it before but on the 1911 census for my Gt Grandparents, the names of their deceased children are listed, yet scribbled out.  I saw they had 13 children; 6 alive and 7 deceased.

Thank you all in advance.

London and Middlesex / Marriage - Thomas Benn & Elizabeth Benn
« on: Friday 26 December 14 20:50 GMT (UK)  »
Appee Chreesmass All  :D

I have found, to what I believe, the marriage certificate for my 5x Gt Grandparents in Ealing, Middlesex on 03 Aug 1817... however, my query is that they both have the same Surname!

They are both named Benn on the register, is this common, or known?  Or can anyone unravel the possible mystery?

Cheers and hope you all had a good Xmas.

Essex / Mary Ann WEBB
« on: Thursday 18 December 14 14:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

Merry Xmas or Bahumbug (which ever your choice  ;))

Please can you help with finding out some info, parents or ancestors of Mary Ann WEBB, b1839, Fingringhoe?

I know her Father's name was John WEBB but that's only because I got that from her marriage certificate to Thomas Butcher; whom she married on 29 Aug 1857 in St Osyth.

I thank you all in advance for your help.

Cheers

Essex / William BUTCHER - St Osyth
« on: Monday 18 August 14 20:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me discover the parents of my 5x Great GF, William Butcher, who lived in/near St Osyth, Essex.

He was married to Elizabeth Gennery on 11 Feb 1770.

Having searched the Sy Osyth records, I found that a 'Wm and Elizabeth' had baptised 10 children ranging from 1770 to 1796.  I'm unsure on the duplicates of Wm and Susan but thats what I discovered.
Elizabeth, William, Thomas, William, Susan, William, Sarah, Susan, Mary, John (my 4x Gt GF).

Your help in this matter is very much appreciated.

Cheers

Lee
