Suffolk Lookup Requests / Ipswich RO - diaries of KW BOYNES
« on: Monday 23 January 17 17:42 GMT (UK)  »
I've recently noticed that Ipswich Records Office holds diaries (or log books) of a KW Boynes, recording air raids in Ipswich and the surrounding area from 1939-45. (Ref HD3071). I wonder if these diaries were compiled by my mother's cousin, Kenneth William Boynes; however, he would have been a boy of 11 in 1939 (I believe he was later a town councillor).

If anyone is visiting the records office, might they kindly check whether these are in fact Ken's diaries, and perhaps whether they contain any personal information? He would have been living in Samuel road, Ipswich about that date.  Many thanks for any help or info.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / LAFLIN/ORRISS marriage, Ringshall
« on: Monday 03 August 15 17:08 BST (UK)  »
I would be grateful if anyone has access to the Ringshall records for 1859; I'm looking for the marriage of Samuel Orriss and Sarah Ann Laflin which I believe took place in Ringshall in 1859, to confirm Samuel's father's name and occupation if possible. Any help appreciated.

Essex / WILSONS of West Ham
« on: Monday 03 August 15 16:05 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone is researching the family of William Henry WILSON and Harriet BOYNES, who married in Ipswich in 1873, and I believe later moved to Essex? I know they had a son, also called William Wilson, who married Emma Amelia CARTER in West Ham in 1900. I *think* this couple had the following children, but would like to confirm:
John (1914)
Eleanor and Sarah (1916)
Douglas (1919) and
James (1920).

I'd be interested in any information on this family; thanks.

Suffolk / Paternity Bursary
« on: Sunday 09 November 14 15:38 GMT (UK)  »
I recently discovered a relative in the 1911 census, a 68-year-old widow living in Ipswich, whose means of support was a paternity bursary. I knew she had been illegitimate, but this would suggest that her father was known and had provided for her in some way.

Can anyone throw any light on how these bursaries were awarded, and whether there is any register of   their provision, or other information on them?

Thanks.

Suffolk / Net factory, Ipswich?
« on: Sunday 27 July 14 14:18 BST (UK)  »
In the 1911 census my grandmother was listed as a net cutter in a net factory.  Does anyone know whereabouts in Ipswich this factory might have been, what it was called, and what type of nets it produced - fishing nets perhaps?

thanks for any help,
Janet

« on: Saturday 15 June 13 15:22 BST (UK)  »
A Mary Ann Elliott was buried in Hadleigh on 22 April, 1832 aged 57 at time of death. Would there be any more information on Mary Ann, e.g. name of next of kin?

Any help appreciated, thanks.
