The Common Room / Records for boarded out children, 1940s
« on: Saturday 15 June 19 15:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

My mum and her sister, both deceased, were boarded out to an aunt and her family at some point about 1945/1950 in Dryfesdale now Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire. They lived with their aunt until they each turned 16, then moved out to board with employers, working as domestic servants. Their aunt was paid to look after them.

Can anybody help with where i could find their boarding out records ?
Thanks for any help

World War One / John Law Findlay
« on: Saturday 16 May 15 16:48 BST (UK)  »
I would be grateful if any one can provide any details of John Law Findlay's war service in WW1. He was born in 1877 in Cambusnethan near Wishaw in Scotland. There is a vague notion that he may have served with the Royal Scots or Scots Gaurds.

Thanks in advance. L

Hi

Request please to find how and when Lea(h) Codoray made her way from Switzerland to Edinburgh.
Leah was born abt1874....deducting age on her death record also this age agrees with 1891 Edinburgh census has her aged 17yrs, census also states she was born in Switzerland.
Spellings so far are Lea, Leah    Coderay, Codaray. Wondering if she travelled alone as can find no family in Edinburgh for her. Incase required Leahs parents names are Jean Louis Codoray and Louise Madelaine Delesscot. Any and all help appreciated.
