Durham / Vera Bainbridge - marriage
« on: Sunday 24 January 16 03:57 GMT (UK)  »
G'day

I believe that Vera Bainbridge married a someone Baker in 1939. I came to this conclusion as the 1939 register shows a Vera Baker [the right age] residing in Durham with George T A & Edith Bainbridge [my Vera's mother and father]. Durham County Council online records have a marriage for a Vera Bainbridge in 1939 but there are only two other names cited on that page and neither is a Baker. A search of the usual suspects [Free BMD & Find My Past] has proved fruitless. Any ideas, other than purchasing the certificate?

G'day

Trying to find out more about a Caroline Scholey who was transported to Tasmania in 1849. She was at the Cascades Female Factor. According to Tasmanian records she married a James Quiet in 1854. Then it comes to a grinding halt. Nothing. Any ideas?

New Zealand Completed Requests / Dimmock / Dufty

G'day

I'm trying to establish if the Thomas Dimmock who married Lucy Dufty, at the Wesleyan Church in Huntly on 20th March 1901, is part of my extended tree. Without purchasing the marriage certificate is there any way I can find out his father's name.

Durham / Missing Taits
« on: Wednesday 17 March 10 01:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I'm trying to piece together what happened to two of my great grandfather's siblings.

Here's what I've put together so far:

Thomas Tait born 1867 in Stockton Durham. In 1871 he's living with his parents [Adam & Isabella] at 6 Wade Street, St James, Stockton. In 1881, he's a groom, still living with his parents at 17 Gayles Street Stockton.

Isabella Tait born 1870 in Stockton Durham. In 1871 he's living with his parents [Adam & Isabella] at 6 Wade Street, St James, Stockton. In 1881, she's still living with his parents at 17 Gayles Street Stockton. I think that in 1891 she's a domestic servant living at the home of an Annie Sheridan, 2 Sebastapol Terrace Dawdon Durham.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Australia / Edward BLINKHORN
« on: Monday 01 March 10 06:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Trying to track an Edward Blinkhorn [born 1823 in Bolton Lancashire].
He arrived in Melbourne in 1853 on board the "Anne Dashwood"
He arrived in Hobart on the 27th September 1855.
Six or so weeks later he set off to Launceston.
He did some work around Table Cape.

That's all I've got, except a rough indication that he may have settled in Queenstown.

Any help would be much appreciated..

Hi

Could some kind soul see if they can find the following in the 1891 census.

This is frustrating the heck out of me as I can't find them on Ancestry in 1891 when I know they should be there.

SURNAME: Blinkhorn or Blenkhorn

Forename: Ellen - born about 1867.

She will have 3 children living with her: Alice [born about 1887]; Jane [born about 1889]; & Robert [born about 1891]

Lancashire Completed Lookup Requests / Completed: Marriage: Christ Church Ince 1877
« on: Monday 22 February 10 06:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I was wondering if someone could look up the following marriage for me:

William Blinkhorn & Ellen Hilton; Christ Church Ince; June quarter 1877; registered at Wigan Volume 8c page 36; Lancashire BMD reference C19/2/56.

I've found 2 Williams born about 1856 and need to ascertain which one married Ellen.
One William's father is James; the other's father is Thomas.

Thanks

Doug

Hi

I was wondering if some kind soul could lookup the marriage of William Bradshaw and Ellen Blinkhorn that occured at Bolton Christ Church in the 1854. FreeBMD confirms the marriage took palce in the December Quarter - Volume 8c page 293 [although the bride's surname is mistranscribed as Blinkharn]. The Lancahire BMD confirms the correct surname [their reference is 65/1/459].
