Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Early Baptism Record
« on: Saturday 27 December 14 06:05 GMT (UK)  »
In the first two entries of baptisms it says son of , but later says daughter of. Can someone explain what daughter of means in this Baptism attachment? Is it the mothers maiden name for the son or another entry on the same day ( possibly an unnamed basechild)?
Thanks

Limerick / Mulvehill-Limerick
« on: Tuesday 17 June 14 11:05 BST (UK)  »
Although not related, I am trying to find out info on a Mulvehill (later became Melville) family that came to NSW, Australia in 1854. They were Catholic, I am pretty sure. The father James Mulvehill born either 1792 (Death says) or 1800 (Immig. says), son of James and Margaret, immigrated with his wife Anne nee unknown (parents Thomas and Agnes) and their 7 children.  His son Samuel's obituary says he was born Corough, Co. Limerick..  Does anyone have any idea where or if this place exists?

Thanks
Shauna
P.S. There is also a John Mulvehill c 1833 that comes to NSW in 1857 and appears to be sponsored by James. He marries one of James' daughters, I am pretty sure.

My gtx4 grandparents John Man c 1766 and Mary Murrell  c 1769 married 5/5/1788 in Chittingfold.

On the allegation for marriage, Mary's mother the widow Elizabeth Underwood left her mark as did John Mann a bachelor from Puttenham. Presumably this was because Mary was underage.

My question is who was the widow Elizabeth Underwood's husband or husbands and when did they marry? Was she single when she married or had she been married before. A birth for Mary has not been found however a Mary M was bapt 1770 Chittingfold with mother Elizabeth M. If Elizabeth wasnt married could this be a reason surnames werent recorded. That is if in fact this was the birth.

I hope someone can give me some clues.
Fingers crossed

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Job Brown c 1833 Shortwood, Nailsworth
« on: Tuesday 24 July 12 08:51 BST (UK)  »
Job Brown born around 1833 Shortwood, Nailsworth He was in Shortwood in the 1841 census with his father Peter, mother Ann and siblings Esther, Joseph, Mary and Sarah. In 1851 Ann has died and his sisters have gone off and married. Peter was  living in Newmarket, Horsley with his son Joseph although the census says Joseph was born Horsley. I was told in an earlier post c 2007 that Joseph could have become Josiah and was in Wales for the 1861 census.

I wonder if anyone can find what happened to Job? Maybe 1851 census or later. I dont think he died. His dad Peter was buried in Shortwood we think in 1863 where Ann was also buried in 1842.

Derbyshire Completed Look ups / Census: Higginson COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 08 September 11 06:17 BST (UK)  »
On behalf of a neighbour,  I am looking for her mother, a Mabel Higginson born 2/11/1896 Hayfield, Derbyshire. Her parents recorded on her death cert. in Australia were Edmund and Isabella. This is the only info she has. There is a marriage DEC Q1891 Hayfield of a Edmund Higinson(sic) and Isabella Page. This could be them? Can someone try and find the family on the census?
