Lancashire / Balshaw familyEuxton
« on: Tuesday 28 February 17 17:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I have not used  Rootschat in a number of years so feels bit rusty.

I have uncovered a new line of research - Richard Balshaw of Euxton leyland Lancashire and his son James baptised Leyland  in 1701. The family lived in Euxton.

Any information would be gratefully received.

Thank you.

Leicestershire / James Harrold Hinckley
« on: Tuesday 28 February 17 17:30 GMT (UK)  »
I am returning to Rootschat after a number of years so please be patient with me if I am a bit rusty!

I have heard that a direct ancestor of mine,James Harrold (1780-1846), a needle maker of Hinckley was  a bit of a character.

If anybody has any information about him or even suggestions of  possible areas to research I would be extremely grateful.

Thank  you
Jean Sandra

Lancashire / Richard Holt - Bolton
« on: Sunday 21 October 12 10:03 BST (UK)  »
An ancestor of mine called Edward Holt apparently, according to his marriage in 1853, had a father Richard Holt (Joiner).
Edward was born in Bolton in 1824/25 according to various census data.
I haven't been able to find a baptism for Edward or any further information about Richard.
If anyone could help I would be very grateful.

Cheshire / Rebecca Sharman death Stockport
« on: Thursday 27 September 12 08:36 BST (UK)  »
I believe my ancestor, Rebecca Sharman from Bubnell in Derbyshire could have been the same Rebecca Sherman who was buried at St Thomas Stockport 14th June 1840.
If someone could look up the details of the burial I would be extremely grateful.
I have reason to believe that my Rebecca could have moved to live with her daughter Mary Reid and her family in Stockport after the death of Rebecca's husband George.

Cheshire / Mary Sharman wedding
« on: Sunday 23 September 12 09:20 BST (UK)  »
I would be very grateful if some kind person could look up the wedding of Mary Sharman to Joshua Read at Cheadle  on the 30th December 1833.
Any extra details would be wonderful. I do realise it is pre 1837 but there is just a chance.
Many thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Warrington 1841 census
« on: Thursday 02 December 10 16:49 GMT (UK)  »
Could anybody please help me locate either Richard Challenor or Hannah Fisher in Warrington at the time of the 1841 census?
Hannah was aged about 30 and Richard 21/22.
I would be very grateful for any information as Richard was a hawker/traveller who was quite elusive!

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Richard Challenor - Warrington
« on: Thursday 02 December 10 16:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have looked long and hard to find the 1st marriage of my ancestor, Richard Challenor.
I believe I have found a marriage in Warrington between Richard Challiner and Hannah Fisher on the 12th July 1841 at Warrington. I do not know which church or many details except it took place in Warrington on the 12th July 1841. If anyone could help me find any further information about this wedding or the people concerned I would be very grateful. If only to eliminate them from my search.

Lancashire / Hannah Hough - Chorley
« on: Sunday 19 September 10 09:57 BST (UK)  »
An ancestor of mine hannah Hough was born in Chorley in 1792 according to the 1851 census.
Looking at the St Laurence, Chorley records she could have been Hannah Hough christened christened 29th April 1792, the daughter of Robert and Jane Hough. However Robert and Jane  had another daughter, Ann, christened 10th November 1800.
It seems unlikely they would have had daughters Hannah and Ann.
I would be really grateful if somebody could look in the church records to see if a Hannah Hough was buried between 1792 and 1800.

Cornwall / George STEPHENS - Gwinear and St Austell
« on: Sunday 22 August 10 07:50 BST (UK)  »
An ancestor of mine, George Stephens, has become a real mystery!
I believe he was christened in Gwinear on the 20th July 1794, his parents being george Stephens and Martha Williams.
He married Betsey Bate at Tywardreath on the 19th May 1821.
They had 5 children all baptised at St Austell between June 1822 and June 1832.
However after that date I can't find any reference to George.
At the 1841 census Betsey was at Holmbush with her family but there was no George.
Betsey died in Holmbush St Austell on the 14th May 1842. At her death was Philip Hore but no George Stephens. On her death certificate it states that she was the wife of George Stevens miner.
I have tried to find him on various census and tried to find his death but to no avail.
Any help would be very gratefully received.
Regards
Jean Sandra
