Tyrone / Catholic records of Donaghmore
« on: Monday 22 April 24 17:55 BST (UK)  »
I am searching an O'Neill family from the townland of Drumbearn in Donaghmore

The records for Donaghmore RC church start 1837 for baptisms and marriages -

But I notice that Tullyallen RC records start much earlier - and Tullyallen is very close to Donaghmore -

Tullyallen RC
Baptisms 1816-1833
Marriages 1816-1844
Burials 1816-1844

Would someone residing in Donaghmore use Tullyallen Catholic church in the earlier period?

Perthshire / (Sir) Robert Rynd & family
« on: Friday 20 October 23 08:13 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for additional information on the family of (Sir) Robert Rynd who had been a Catholic priest but left the priesthood, became a protestant and married (Helen Gairns) - had a large family. I know of 2 children (Agnes married William Colt in 1563) and William Rynd died 1628. I think the family resided in the Perth area - the dates are early but wonder if they were of sufficient means to leave wills, property etc

I am not sure if he was officially a Sir or if this was a nickname - the surname is now quite rare - variants are Rhind, Rhynd, Rind etc.

Lanarkshire / Maxwell family from Derry to Lanark
« on: Wednesday 06 September 23 12:42 BST (UK)  »
Looking for help with a Maxwell family who moved from Derry to Scotland.

John Maxwell and his wife Jane (Rea/Wray/Rea) moved to Scotland some time after 1875 --

The clue I have is the marriage of their daughter Matilda Maxwell to Richard Dickson at Uddington, Bothwell, Lanark on 31 Dec 1897 (registered 1898). Matilda's father John Maxwell is listed as deceased (a steel scravenger?) and mother Jane (Rae) appears to be alive.

I am only interested in trying to locate the Maxwell family - any help gratefully received thanks.

Tyrone / Placename help - Flatfield
« on: Thursday 15 June 23 11:50 BST (UK)  »
A marriage in Australia 1866 for a Thomas Allen has him as a son of Mr John Allen formerly of Flatfield, Co Tyrone.

Any local historians know of this place - the Allens resided in Kilskeery parish before emigrating in 1857 to Australia.

Antrim / Brown problem
« on: Saturday 20 May 23 21:18 BST (UK)  »
I am having trouble locating a James Brown in Belfast (the surname is just so common).

On 22 Dec 1902 (St Patrick's RC) James Browne aged 28 of Unity Street, Belfast, labourer (son of John Browne labourer) married Mary Eliza Connor aged 21 of 29 Sussex Street, Belfast mill worker (dau of John Connor, a fireman) witnesses - John McAreavy & Ann Moore

I cannot locate said James Brown in the 1901 or 1911 census returns nor can I find any issue from this marriage.

James Brown died 26 Nov 1924 (aged 51) in Whiteabbey Sanitorium (for the treatment of TB) and his address was given as 30 Hardinge Street, Belfast and his widow Mary Brown was in attendance. He was buried in Milltown cemetery.

Any help would be great, thanks.
