Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Aston le Walls Parish records?
« on: Tuesday 24 January 12 18:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I hope someone may be able to help me. I am searching for a baptismal record for a John Curtis, b.1787 in Aston le Walls - he married Ann Penn in nearby Wardington, Oxfordshire but I can find nothing else on him and I would like to see if I can go further back with the family.

Does anyone have access to the Aston le Walls parish records and would be able to do a look-up for me please?

Many thanks

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Wardington - Curtis baptisms
« on: Wednesday 13 October 10 21:40 BST (UK)  »
Would anyone be able to look up baptismal/marriage or burial records in Wardington please? I am trying to find more information on my 2xg grandfather's family. He was Thomas Curtis, b.1830 in Wardington to John and Ann (nee Penn). I can only find one sibling Harriet, b.1826.

John was born in about 1786 - I have found some reference that indicates he was born in Aston le Walls, Northamptonshire although can find no baptismal record for him to back this up. Ann Penn was born in 1794 in Wardington. They married in Wardington in 1809 so I am surprised that I cannot find any further children for them between the period of 1809 to 1826.

Family history suggests that there could be links with Wardington Manor but this is unproved.
I would love to find out more about the Curtis family and possibly the Penn family if possible.
Thank you
Alison

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Welford baptism records
« on: Tuesday 24 November 09 19:09 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to these and can do a lookup for me please?

My g g grandmother was Mary Ann Wilson, b.1870 in Welford to James Wilson and Caroline nee Starmer. Mary Ann was one of eight sisters all born in Welford. James' parents were Thomas and Elizabeth nee Vicars.

I have been unable to find any info on their births and cannot find them on the 1871 census, in fact I can't find any 1871 census records for Welford.

I would be very grateful if anyone is able to find this family for me

Many thanks

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Middleton baptisms - Alice Liquorish
« on: Sunday 22 November 09 13:01 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the maiden name of Alice Liquorish, b.1816 in Middleton, Northamptonshire to John Liquorish and Martha. Martha was born in Middleton c1797, John was born in Hallaton, Leicestershire in c1793.
I have an IGI record for an Alice Liquorish, christened on 3 November 1816 in Cottingham, parents John Liquorish and Martha.
I would be interested if anyone is able to find further information on Martha and her family in Middleton.

Many thanks

Does anyone have access to these parish records and can do a lookup for me please?
I'm trying to find John Curtis, born c1787 in Aston le Walls. He had moved to Wardington in Oxfordshire by 1809 but I am interested in finding any other family members.
He married Ann Penn in 1809 and had 2 children that I know of - Harriet and Thomas.

Any help would be gratefully received.
Thank you

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Curtis/Penn - Wardington
« on: Sunday 22 November 09 12:51 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find more information on John Curtis and Ann Penn. John was born in Aston le Walls, Northants in c1787 and married Ann Penn in 1809 in Wardington. Ann was born c.1794? in Wardington. I only have them as having 2 children - Harriet, b.1826 and Thomas, b.1830 which seems a little odd if they married in 1809?

I have posted before and was given their marriage date and a possible baptismal record for Thomas but I was wondering if anyone could help further?

Harriet married Thomas Watts and stayed in the village. Thomas moved to Warwickshire then Leicester.

Also, can anyone tell me where I might find the history of Wardington Manor please? Family history has it as being linked to the family in some way.

Many thanks

Armed Forces / Army regiment help
« on: Sunday 15 March 09 16:28 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking to find out what regiment the following was: "2nd Brigade Depot, The Castle Barracks, Carlisle"

My 2x great uncle was here in 1881 and by 1901 was a Quartermaster sergeant at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Hound, Hampshire. I am unable to find him in the 1891 census.

Someone suggested that I try on here to see if anyone is able to help me find out about the 2nd Brigade.

Hopefully yours

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / 1891 census - George Curtis, soldier
« on: Sunday 15 March 09 09:28 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find information on George Curtis who was a soldier and I believe was based in or around Aldershot in 1891, but I cannot find any reference to him or his family. I wondered if anyone might be able to help me with this.

George Casteff? Curtis, b.1862 Cosford, Warwickshire
Mary Frances Curtis, nee Brown, year and place of birth not known, marriage took place on the Isle of Wight in 1888 (have marriage reference and marriage is noted in Curtis family bible)
Irene Frances (or Frances Irene), b.1889 Aldershot, Hampshire
George Herbert (or Herbert George), b.1890 Aldershot, Hampshire.

I have found George Snr in 1881 census, in barracks in Cumberland. In 1901 he was a Quartermaster sergeant at Royal Victoria Hospital, Hound, living with his second wife Gertrude (Caroline G M nee Greenwood) who he married in Salisbury in 1900 - they had 3 children: Stanley, born 1898 Netley, Hampshire; Doris, b 1901 Netley (died 1903) and Nora, b 1902.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might find these people in 1891? If a soldier, would they still have to be registered on a census?

Any help would be gratefully received

Many thanks
Alison
