I appreciate all of those who've helped me over the past few weeks (you know who you are), as I was new at this and you've helped teach me the ropes.

I am looking for information about the Lockwood Cemetery, located along Meltham Rd. Would there be a online index to search? I would like to check the interments and burials there for my DAWSON relatives. These are just a few, I have many more that might be there too.

Joseph Dawson (died abt 1840 Aged 56)
Elizabeth Dawson (died 7 Jun 1852 Aged 66)
Richard Dawson (died 13 Nov 1901 Aged 80 )
Ellen Dawson (died 28 May 1908 Aged 79 )

I emailed both of these Kirklees depts. and have made no progress.  bereavement.services@kirklees.gov AND  customer.relations@kirklees.gov.uk

Tips?

Thank you!!! Tim LaRose

Greetings members, I am searching for the father of Richard Dawson (born abt 1821), who married (m. abt 1846) Ellen Riley (born abt 1829). I found Richard in all of the census records; he lived and died in Lockwood, within the parish of Almondbury. I show his marriage 1846, and death 1901 in the "England & Wales, FreeBMD Index: 1837-1983" but have not yet sent for records.

He, in the 1841 census, was living with his siblings, and his mother Elizabeth. Elizabeth (born abt 1786) is listed as "Widowed." She died in Lockwood, some time between 1852-1858, as she appears in the 1851 census but not the 1861. I would also like to learn of her maiden name.

I have no idea who Richard Dawson's father is, and my research is stalled because I am not familiar with how to do research in the little parish towns. Richard Dawson's brothers & sisters are: Ann (b.1810), Eliza (b.1816), Hannah (b.1819), Benjamin (b.1826), and John (b.1835).

I am grateful for any assistance you members could provide,

Sincerely,
Tim LaRose - researching my Dawson Family
