Fermanagh / LOOK UP REQUEST WILSONS OF COOLYERMER
« on: Thursday 02 March 06 01:18 GMT (UK)  »
WILLIAM WILSON, a farmer, had a son ROBERT b.circa 1837 who as a ship steward in BANGOR 1869 married MARY LOUISA BARKER b.1841.  Trying to ascertain if this is the same William Wilson who farmed in Coolyermer and may have married a MOLYNEUX.  This would knock down a brick wall I've been chipping away at for too long!!  I presume census info or parish records would hold some clues?  Any help would be appreciated.

Still looking for info re George Dawson, a basket manufacturer in Belfast.  His daughter, Minnie Emily, married FW Wilson in 1900 but I have no details re her family and cannot find a record of her birth.  Any info on the Dawson family is much needed, perhaps a street directory look up?

Down / WILSONS of CLANDEBOYE parish registers/census
« on: Monday 29 August 05 21:49 BST (UK)  »
William Wilson was a farmer in Clandeboye at the time his son Robert, born circa 1837, married Mary Louisa Barker on 19/01/1869 (I have the marriage cert).  I'm trying to find info re the Wilson family.  There may be a MOLYNEAUX connection as the name was given to Robert's first born but this is speculative (perhaps William's wife's maiden name?)  I would appreciate if anyone could do a look up for the birth of Robert and the marriage of William.

Mary Louisa Barker born 1841 married Robert Wilson born 1839? on 19/01/1869 in Bangor.  I have no church noted so am unable to order a cert from GRO.  I have lots of info on the Barker family but nothing on the Wilsons so have hit a real stumbling block here, any ideas?

Thanks

Dublin / SWITZER'S. HARRIET (LALLIE) WILSON
« on: Wednesday 09 February 05 21:37 GMT (UK)  »
Harriet was born in 1903 and as a young lady was brought up by the Switzer family who ran a department store in Grafton Street.  She was separated from her brothers Sidney and Norman when their mother left at some point between 1915 and 1923.  I'm eager to find any info about her as I know she married and had 2 boys although I need to ascertain if the marriage took place in the UK or Ireland. If I can find a record of her marriage, I have a chance of tracing her sons.  I wonder if anyone has any info about the Switzers and if some sort of family records are available.  I would be so grateful if anyone has any ideas.

Isle of Man / 'BOREEN' LOWER FOXDALE FW WILSON
« on: Tuesday 17 August 04 15:37 BST (UK)  »
My great grandfather Frederick W Wilson lived at a house named 'Boreen' in Foxdale before his death in 1939.  He was in the merchant navy and spent most of his life at sea.  I'm trying to ascertain if he built the house and in what year he or his family occupied it.  His son Norman (my grandfather) became golf pro at Port Erin in the 20's and his sister Harriet is reported to have landed him the job.  I need to know if Harriet and Norman ever lived at 'Boreen' as children as they were abandoned by their mother and were brought up by aunts on the IOM. On his death in 1939, his second wife Ella inherited his estate and I would love to get my hands on his will to see if he did in fact leave anything to his children!!  He died on 13/03/1939 and was buried in Patrick Parish?  Any help would be gratefully appreciated!!

Antrim / DAWSON-WILSON Belfast
« on: Tuesday 17 August 04 15:19 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find a birth/death date and addresses for my great grandmother MINNIE EMILY WILSON nee DAWSON.  Born circa 1880 as she was married to FREDERICK WILLIAM WILSON (son of ROBERT WILSON, seafarer) at Trinity Church Belfast in Aug 1900.  There is no DOB recorded on a recently obtained marriage cert.  Her father was GEORGE DAWSON a basket manufacturer.

She gave birth to twins in 1902 but they died aged 9 months.  She went on to have a daughter HARRIET (Lallie) and 2 sons SIDNEY and NORMAN.  Circumstances unknown to me led her to leave her family and flee to Australia.  She returned briefly in the late 20's (to reconcile with her children?)  I believe she died in Australia but can't be sure.  If anyone has any info/tips I would be eternally grateful.
