« on: Saturday 01 July 23 19:47 BST (UK)  »
I have just been checking a birth registers from Lancaster in 1964. I was suprised to see that there are two listings with the same reference number but both showing different surnames ? The lady was unmarried and is correctly identified why would there be two listings ?

Cheshire / John Wagstaffe Prestbury Macclesfield
« on: Thursday 03 March 22 21:29 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching John Wagstaffe / Wagstaff who married Mary Corbishley on the 15th November 1835 Prestbury in Cheshire, both are widows and John is listed as a surgeon.

Mary dies in 1837 and John around the same time

Two Children
Henry Stubbs Wagstaffe b 1837 Sutton Macclesfield
John Stubbs Wagstaffe

1851 Census Henry is living as a servant at Mathew Stubbs Finney's Farm Gawsworth.

Questions..

If Mary was a widow how would I find her previous husband and family ?

Why are both boys baptized with "stubbs" as a middle name, interestingly Henry was a servant after his parents death but if he as a kind uncle he would not be listed as a servant ??

I can not find brother after parents death?

Any thoughts on how to progress would be really helpfull.

Lancashire / Looking for the death and burial of William Haylock Rickwood
« on: Monday 28 February 22 20:52 GMT (UK)  »
I am continuing looking for some of my ancestors that have gone missing.

William Haylock Rickwood born Lambeth Surrey 1857

He moved to Lancashire and married Frances Wagstaff in 1883.

I follow them through the records until 1911, William looks like he was visiting his brother in Byker Newcastle upon Tyne but then he disappears..?

Frances (nee wagstaff) died in 1956 and is buried in Droylsden but without her husband ??

In 1939 Frances is living with her daughter as a widow. Why is she not buried with her husband ? I can not find any burials or any deaths in the right age range???

Hoping that someone may have some good ideas.

Lancashire / Wife missing from Grave - Southern Cemetery Winston family
« on: Wednesday 09 February 22 20:41 GMT (UK)  »
I have a couple instances of finding my ancestors wife missing from the Grave and wondered why ?

In this case I am looking for Harriot Maria Winston (nee Bell) 1850 - 1920 I had expected her to be buried with her husband Frederick Moreland Winston 1950 - 1907 in the same grave but she is not listed ???

Southern Cemetery I 1030 Church of England

   1   James Winston 1814-1889
   2   Eleanor Winston 1812-1899

   3   Frederick Winston 1850-1907

        4   Elizabeth Ann Davies 1849-1910
   5   Percy Johnson 1868-1925
   6   Maggie Johnson 1868-1941
   7   William Symes 1896-1946
   8   Amy Symes 1895-1980

The grave was not full when she died so what happened to her ? I know the Winston relative but none of the others I can see that they Johnson and Symes are the same family but have not Idea how Elizabeth Davies and the others are connected either ?

The last address I have for his is from the 1911 census and she was living at 14 Stamford Street Hulme.

The Common Room / Find my past Member's Tree
« on: Thursday 16 December 21 21:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I have in the last month subscribed to find my past, I have not been a subscribed member for about 6 or 7 years. I uploaded my upto date tree which had about 1000 people in the tree and had lots of member tree matches, I have since tried to make contact with maybe about 25 but I have not had one single reply which I find really disappointing after so much excitement of finding a match, is this normal ???

The Common Room / Find My Past Subscription 2021
« on: Monday 22 November 21 21:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hello again,

I have put a find my past subscription to my letter to santa, I have been good this year! I am pondering between essential and Ultimate on a monthly option.

What is the difference between Census returns with PAYG access to the 1921 census (essential)

and

Discounted access to the 1921 census (12-month subscriptions only) ??? (Ultimate)

What access are they offering to the 2021 census does anyone know.

Confused.

Lancashire / Mackay died in Urmston 1921
« on: Wednesday 10 November 21 21:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I have been struggling to find where John Mackay was buried in 1922 1921 ?

John was born in Manchester 1881 and died on 2nd October 1921 at the Cottage Hospital in Urmston, at the times of death he would have been living in Urmston with his family, his wife Ellen moved after his death and died in 1966 at Cadishead I have not found her grave either.  I have tried looking at deceased online, find a grave and Manchester burials no luck and no idea where to try next ? Would welcome any suggestions.

I have George Frederick Bates born 1887 in Manchester, before the war he was living at 10 Albert Road Northenden and I know he was injured in the war - I would love to find out what happened to him during this period.
