Hello all,
A couple of months ago I was asked to write a history of a local church building.
Whilst searching the National Archive of Scotland database, I found this:
Decree in petition for Reverend Michael Patrick Johnstone and others the minister and kirk session of the Parish of Fraserburgh granting authority to sell heritage etc
Permission had been granted by the "Court of Session: warrants of the Register of Acts and Decreets".
What does it actually mean to sell heritage? Are they simply flogging off some stuff?
The church had been extended and completely remodelled in 1898, so there would probably be lots of surplus items going around - including a stained glass window which was installed in 1898, and replaced in 1906.
Can anyone clarify what it means to "sell heritage", and why they needed permission of the courts?
regards
