Kent Lookup Requests / Marriage of Augustus Delitka
« on: Wednesday 12 November 14 00:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folks,

I have searched for the marriage of Leonard Percy GURR and Daisy Beatrice Ann DELITKE in Gravesend 24 feb 1936 at the CityArc website and the only church records that I couldn't find for that date come from Milton Church of St. Peter and St. Paul.

I also searched 'Find My Past' but couldn't find what I was looking for as the details were scarce.

Can anyone find this marriage for me and let me know the names of the parents please?

TIA
John

Hi people

I am trying to find out the occupation(s) of Charles E Steere, at 7 Willow Hey, Maghull, L31 (a suburb to the north of Liverpool).
He was born in Walton, Liverpool, in 1894 and died in Ormskirk, Lancs., in 1949.

Can anyone access the street directories or other records for me and try to find out what work he did please?

Thanks a lot, John

Library and FHS Lookups / Searching for pre ww2 addresses
« on: Wednesday 13 August 14 11:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi folks

I haven't been on RC for quite a while and am a bit rusty. I need to search for addresses of various people in the UK from before WW2. Because the census is no help what is the best way to go about this? Would electoral registers for that time be online or would it be a case of contacting various libraries around the country?

If possible could these records be accessed from France as I night have to be there for a while?

Thanks for any help this has been a recent developement.

Devon Lookup Requests / Melhuish/Harris marriage devon 1906
« on: Tuesday 07 May 13 09:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi folks

I am trying to check if I have the right info for this marriage for a friend's tree that I am doing.

I have     William Nelson MELHUISH was born Q2 1886, Tiverton, Devon married  Minnie HARRIS Q2 1906, Crediton, Devon.
Minnie was born Q3 1878, Crediton, Devon; died Q3 1924, Exeter, Devon. They had 2 children,  Beatrice C MELHUISH  born Q2 1922, Paddington, London, and William Robert MELHUISH  born Q3 1924, Paddington, London.

William Nelson MELHUISH then married again in Q1 1928,Holborn, London to Martha VANSTONE.

There is a bit of confusion re the birth of the son William Robert and the death of Minnie Melhuish (HARRIS). Apparently William R never spoke of the Harris connection to his family, it could be that he was never told who his 'real' mother was or just didn't want to talk about a mum that he never knew.

That facts that I need to be clear about are the Marriage of William N to Minnie and any parish records info I can get including baptisms. I will be gratefull for any help that will confirm or amend what I have atm.

Thanks John

The Lighter Side / "Heir Hunters" TV program #2
« on: Wednesday 16 March 11 22:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi thought I would start the ball rolling again.

In I think it was yesterdays program, the one featuring the German POW, I found that particularly interesting as my former father in law was in this category. And like the featured person he didn't want to talk about it really. He stayed in England and married an English woman and settle down and had a family.

He died a few years ago and we were wondering about tracing his record while he was a prisoner, we have very little info about that time of his life, so any pointers as to where to look, or who to contact please?

World War One / Royal Marines Reg No HELP please
« on: Friday 19 November 10 22:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folks,

I have my grandfather William Frank LORD's service record from NA but am not quite sure of the breakdown of the numbers under his name. He enlisted in the Marines on 19 Oct 1894 in London.

If someone could decipher this for me it would help, I'm having a dim day.

John
