London and Middlesex / spitalfields 1800s
« on: Wednesday 13 May 20 14:28 BST (UK)  »
Hello, does anyone have any knowledge of the spitalfields area in 1803..ish. My ancestor William Hunt on his child's bap, said that they were  at Red Lion court....they got bap at Christ church, Spitalfields  so i'm guessing its around this area!. I have looked on old maps of this area but cannot find Red Lion court. William married Sarah Francis Walters in 1796 who,s father and brothers founded a weaving/silk manufacturers that i recently found out is still in business today...however finding out about her husband is not so easy. Any assistance would be fantastic. I dont not know who Williams father was...William married in 1792 a minor with the consent of his mother Ann. Thanks again.

hi, I've tried most routes to find my Barbara Rogers but coming up blank with anything before her marriage in 1842.......i was hoping somebody to look up white horse lane in stepney for me as this is the address she gives on her marriage certificate....I've tried myself but ancestry just doesn't seem to want to show me white horse lane. Barbara's marriage cert says her fathers name is James. I have no mother or siblings so cant move forward there. I have found that there is a James Rogers living at 75 white horse lane, mile end old town  in 1876 so that's a positive, but cant find anything else...maybe someone with the knowledge of finding address's can help. Thank you for any help given.

London and Middlesex / Barbara Rogers and Henry George Warren
« on: Thursday 30 April 20 16:00 BST (UK)  »
hello can anybody help me find Barbara Rogers birth please....i have sketchy info at best but here goes. i know Barbara had her first children in whitechapel bar one who in the middle of the whitechapel births was born in islington....the second wave of children are all around the stepney area. on the census 1851,71,81,91 she states born in whitechapel. in 1861 she says stepney, so altogether pretty close!. I am having a problem finding her marriage....i have found a marriage cert that states a Barbara Rogers and Henry George warren married 2/1/1841,st dunstans, stepney father named as James rogers and witnessed by Sarah and James rogers, which would mean her first 2 children where born before they got married (did they do that back then, the children baptisms say they were bap st marys, whitechapel. the other thing i have found is banns of marriage between Henry George warren and barberry? rogers it says 27th oct, 3rd nov, 10 nov 1839, st James, islington. i have found her with her family right up to her death which points to her being born in 1821 but i cant find a relevant birth with a father of James around the whitechapel area.
Their first child i believe was born 17.11.1839, whitechapel (Jane)
their second child i believe was born 29.04.1841, whitechapel (elizabeth ann)
I cant find Barbara Rogers or Barbara Warren in 1841. There is a Barbara Rogersin 1841 but says Marylebone, so really dont think its her.
Any small bit  or even better a large bit of advice you can offer would be fantastic. thank you

Family History Beginners Board / wills/probate.
« on: Sunday 12 April 20 20:12 BST (UK)  »
Good evening,

I have found this entry for a relative (names and dates have been removed as this is a more modern entry). I currently know nothing about wills, probate or anything along the legal lines.

I currently have a few different entries along these lines for my tree but have done nothing with them other than save them.
Would anyone be able to explain to me what information this shows and if there would be another more detailed document to look out for.

Any information is appreciated.
Many thanks.
