Ireland / William Joseph CALLAGHAN & Mary MCDERMOTT
« on: Saturday 05 June 21 12:50 BST (UK)  »
William Joseph CALLAGHAN's father was William CALLAGHAN, a Lightkeeper, and his mother was Catherine/Kate POWER. William Joseph was born 23 Sep 1871 on Tarbert Island, Kerry, Ireland. Mary MCDERMOTT was born 28 Sep 1880 at Skerries, Dublin, Ireland and her father was John MCDERMOTT, latterly a Publican, and her mother Margaret ELLIS. William Joseph CALLAGHAN married Mary MCDERMOTT on the 10th August 1908 in Balrothery, William Joseph a bachelor whose address was Galleyhead and Mary a spinster living at Skerries, Dublin.

The occupations on their marriage record are shown as just 'Business' for all parties, though William Joseph was also a Lightkeeper. The witnesses were Thomas MCDERMOTT (Mary's brother) and Monica MCDERMOTT (Mary's sister who later married Thomas CAHILL). William Joseph's father is shown as Henry when it should have been William. However, William Joseph and Mary's first child was born in 1910 at Skerries, his father's address Galleyhead and Mary's aunt Elizabeth CREAN nee McDermott was present at the birth.

I'm seeking any descendants of their children who include William Joseph O'CALLAGHAN born 1910 Dublin, John O'CALLAGHAN born 1914 Dublin, Kathleen E O'CALLAGHAN born 1921 and a possible 5 or 6 other children born after 1921 whose names are known.

Counties could include Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Cork and Dublin
