Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / DNA - A silly question
« on: Friday 09 April 21 14:48 BST (UK)  »
I had my DNA taken through Ancestry and have been tracking it through Thru-lines on their site.

I came across two new names of my list for 5 x gt grandparents.  When I click on the male it
says there are 3 matches, but when I click on the female it says there are no matches.  Surely if these are my 5 x gt shouldn't there be matches on both else I do they determine that she is my ancestor.

I'm confused.

I am looking for the burial of John Tomlinson between 1861 - 1871 poss Burton on Trent

The last sighting of him was in 1861 census when he was living at Hargreaves Buildings, Dale street Burton on Trent with his wife Mary Hinds (nee Taylor) and children.  On various documents his birth date ranges from 1801 - 1806.  Mary remarried in 1869 to Charles Cooper.

Thomas Harwood married Ann Cotton 23.12. 1764 at North Wingfield then they completely disappeared.  I can't see any children to them or any baptisms for either or any burial.

So what happened to them?

Would you say these families are connected

For years I have been looking for the baptism of Joseph Kershaw c 1800.  He married Hannah
Breeding in Mansfield in 1820 and he died in Mansfield in  Oct 1849 aged 50.  In 1841 he is aged 45 and said yes to being born in the County.  Looking at the baptisms for Mansfield there seems to be only one other Kershaw family around and that is Samuel & Ann.

Samuel married Ann Jackson in 1804 at Mansfield and it states he his a bachelor.  In the 1831, headcount, census of Mansfield there is only Joseph and family and Samuel and family living there.
Joseph also named his first two children Samuel and Ann.  Would you think that Samuel and Ann were Joseph's parents?  I suppose he could be the illegitimate child of Ann, but nothing found.
I have a document that states Samuel came from Tintwistle.

I think I must be doing something wrong.  How do you do an address search now on FindMyPast.

I think the site has changed since I last did it and I'm getting too many results.

Ireland / Baptism look up - but where ?
« on: Friday 22 November 19 11:22 GMT (UK)  »

I am looking for a baptism / birth of John Leonard / lennard / lenord.  He was born around 1844 and in the 1861 census he was in Birmingham and gives his place of birth as County Carey (kerry)
In 1881 census, still in B'ham and  he gives his place of birth as Roscommon.  I know his parents were Thomas Leonard and Ellen. Hoping someone may find something for him.
