Gloucestershire / Cornelius Carman
« on: Saturday 22 November 08 07:38 GMT (UK)  »
Cornelius was born in Wisbech in 1861, I can find him on the 1861 & 1881 census. He died in 1921 in Bedford. I know he married a lady called Clara Smart and they had a daughter born in Bristol in 1898 called Alice Clara.  I cannot find a record of Corneluis marriage, the birth of Alice, or him and or his family on the 1891 or 1901 census.  Any suggestions where I can go from here?

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / William POOLE
« on: Thursday 17 April 08 15:08 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone access to the Parish Register for Bradford Wilts.  George Poole married Jane Cooper in 1847 (I have their marriage cert).  I have details of her parents.  All I know about George is that his father was called William and he was a weaver.  I believe George was born in the late 1790's as Jane was his second wife.
What I would like to know is if there is a baptism for George born to William, or any details of his Mother - even a christian name

Bedfordshire / William Stanbridge
« on: Sunday 27 January 08 16:55 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help.  My Gt Uncle William Stanbridge was born in 1887 in Ampthill son of Alfred & Clarissa.  He appears on the 1891 and 1901 census but I cannot find any record of a marriage.  I think his wifes name was Minnie and in the mid 1940's they were living in Saunders Piece in Ampthill.  Has anyone got access to Electoral roles?

World War One / Soldier 1st world war
« on: Sunday 28 October 07 21:54 GMT (UK)  »
I know my Grandfather Herbert Charles Stanbridge born in 1898 in Ampthill fought in the first world war in the army.  I also know he was shot in the face whilst fighting in France.  Here my information ends.  Can someone please tell me where I can go to find out more.  Unfortunately I don't know what regiment he fought with or when he joined up.  Have I got any chance of finding out?  Will this mean a trip to the National Archives with the little informaton I have?

Bedfordshire / Birth
« on: Tuesday 23 October 07 12:51 BST (UK)  »
My Gt Grandmother Mary Ann Wootton was born in 1867 in Meppershall.  Her Mother was called Eliza, she had a brother James and I have found his birth and a sister Elizabeth and I have also found her birth on the BMD but I cannot find Mary Ann. I have looked between 1862 and 1870 on the BMD.  Would her birth have to have been registered and where can I go from here?  Any suggestions would be welcome.

Bedfordshire / Jack CHELSOM
« on: Monday 01 October 07 07:28 BST (UK)  »
Jack is named as Mary Ann Wottons husband on their sons (Walter Jesse) birth certificate in 1893 in Biggleswade Bedford.  Jack is listed as a soldier in the 16th Bedfordshire regiment.  After much searching I have come to a halt, I can find no record of a Jack Chelsom anywhere, no record of a marriage between him and Mary Ann.  Mary Ann married in 1897 in her maiden name - most unusual if she had already been married.  Any suggestons?

Bedfordshire / WOOTTON
« on: Monday 01 October 07 07:23 BST (UK)  »
I am researching my maternal grandmothers side of the family.  I know her father was called Thomas Wootton and was 'deceased' when she got married in 1897.  They came from Bedford or the surrounding area, and Thomas was a 'bird stuffer'.  This is where my research has come to a halt.  I know that Eliza his wife remarried and became a Dilly.
