The Common Room / Advice please on heir hunter company - Thank You
« on: Thursday 17 April 14 08:46 BST (UK)  »
Morning,

I need some advice or my friend does...
She received a letter from a Heir Hunter company yesterday, called (*)

The letter don't really say much, they say they believe she is a possible beneficiary to an estate they are researching. Then it goes on to say little bit of what they do, then a phone number to a meet up at her home..

I don't want her to fall into a trap if this company is not legit. I checked their website out and it really does not say much, which gives me alarm bells, even by the letter aswell, my friend is in her early 70's and is not too well, so it is quite concerning for me.

Many thanks for any help or advice in advance
Pam

Somerset / Brick Wall - Samuel Young
« on: Saturday 23 November 13 08:31 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching for a friend who lives in Australia.

I have a brick wall with Samuel Young born abt 1818 Somerset, parents are Robert and Mary Young. Samuel went to USA around 1840-41 married in Michigan, then went to Canada (1861 census) then onto Australia with wife and children..

I know Somerset is a big county, I even went next door to Devon and ask Devon FHS for name search just incase he may of been born in Devon.

Any help with Samuel will be grately appreciated.
Many thanks in advance

The Common Room / Frederick Charles Barton b 1874
« on: Monday 01 March 10 19:26 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening

I am researching my other halfs family.

I have Frederick Charles Barton born 1874 Southampton

parents John Henry Barton & Anne Stride.

The family moved to West Ham, Essex between 1881 - 1891, I have all the family census upto 1911 apart from Frederick Barton he is missing on 1911 census.

Frederick married Annie Susan Craske on 11 Feb 1897 at St Johns Church West Ham Essex. They had a son called Edgar George W Barton born 1902, Finsbury London. I have the birth cert for Edgar, Edgar is my OH's father, Edgar died 1975

I found Annie Susan Barton nee Craske in service in 1911 census with her son Edgar, Head of household was John William Spencer 5 Scratton Road, Southend on Sea Essex.

Annie Susan Barton nee Craske remarried  to John William Spencer 8 Aug 1918, West Ham Essex. The marriage cert say's that Annie was a Widow
My problem is i can not find a suitable death index for Frederick Charles Barton. I did order a death cert for a Frederick C Barton 1914 St Pancras, it was not my Frederick.

I do have all census returns for the Craske family and Annie's death cert

If anyone can help, i would be most grateful

Buckinghamshire / Gravestones
« on: Tuesday 08 September 09 15:01 BST (UK)  »

I was staying in Aylesbury with family last week, and decided to go gravestone hunting for ancestors headstones.

I know i have ancestors buried in Saunderton, Kimble, Stoke Mandiville, Radnage, Bledlow, plus other areas of Bucks
I was amazed at the amount of Headstones that are missing in Saunderton, Bledlow, and i still didn't find any of my ancestors, they are there but no stones.

Even Weston Turville, Aston Clinton is the same, my gt gt grandparents are buried at Weston Turville and i can't find the headstones for them ..grrr

But it was a nice drive out in the countryside

Good evening,

I was born and baptised/christened in the mid 1960's probably in and around Willesden. I know my parents was living with my grandparents when i was born and before moving out from Stonebridge to Buckinghamshire.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or even addresses for  Roman Catholic churches in the Willesden area so i can write to them.
